Tory MP’s start voting for the next round of candidates to go through in the #LeadershipDebate in half an hour.

For what it’s worth, I think @RishiSunak & @KemiBadenoch & @trussliz should be in the final 3 and I wish the @SkyNews debate wasn’t cancelled.

@RishiSunak @KemiBadenoch @trussliz @SkyNews All 3 candidates offer something different, and as our country goes on to face the biggest economic challenge, it’s worth having the market of ideas be explained & the mistakes reflected upon. I don’t think of them as “attacks”. People learn & grow from challenging times.

@RishiSunak @KemiBadenoch @trussliz @SkyNews Rishi & Kemi offer a fresh diversity, but they also offer fresh ideas. We’re going to need fresh ideas & bold decision making to tackle the tough times ahead. Liz offers experience & a deep understanding of the Union.
I hope a future Government contains all 3 of them in cabinet.

@RishiSunak @KemiBadenoch @trussliz @SkyNews I don’t like the idea of raising more taxes, but I knew from furlough, there would be a price to pay. I think we all did. I want to hear more of Rishi & Kemi’s ideas because I think the country could do with a reset of thinking on economic policies.

@RishiSunak @KemiBadenoch @trussliz @SkyNews I’m not sure about all of the ideas, but at least we’re debating these ideas and I personally think it’s great for the country. Nothing should be set in stone after the upheavals of the last 3 years & the next election will be a consequential one.

These are things that will be in a PM’s in tray & it’s good to stress test.

@RishiSunak @KemiBadenoch @trussliz @SkyNews It’s also good for scrutiny. You are applying for Party Leader, but also as Prime Minister of the country. Even civil servants are subjected to Developed Vetting in order to take some role in Government, to asses their suitability & to mitigate against blackmail.

@RishiSunak @KemiBadenoch @trussliz @SkyNews So why does @DavidDavisMP think @PennyMordaunt should be exempt? And her record in office not be scrutinised? It’s NOT a smear. This is a job interview and all relevant information to decision making and judgement calls should be revealed.
