This 90-year old w/dementia was home w/2 grandsons when men jumped over a fence & entered the sunroom in an attempted home invasion.

This is 1 of 5 sim incidents I’ve reported on in 2 wks in S. San Jose.

The crooks left the crowbar they’re holding in the backyard. Nobody was hurt in this incident.

The same day tho an 83-y/o grandpa was not so lucky. He was at home during a home invasion robbery & hit on the head & taken to the hospital.

Just yesterday 2 men (at least 1 dressed like a mail carrier) invaded the home of a couple in their 60’s.

Their daughter said the men pistol-whipped her mom twice & held dad against his will.

Little Saigon in Oakland is under attack DAILY.

Now dozens of mostly refugee-owned business owners say they want the city to stop ignoring the robberies, arsons, break-ins & attacks.

This woman owns a cigarette store & says she’s been robbed 7xs. A truck also rammed into her shop. You can still see tire marks.

Trinh Le even sleeps on the floor of his jewelry store because he’s has 10 break-ins in one year & has to be his own security guard. #StopAsianHate

Nearly two dozen business owners met w/me today to share their stories & videos hoping the city will pay attention to Little Saigon like they do to Chinatown.

This man in his 60’s was carjacked & dragged on the pavement in Oakland’s Chinatown 8th & Jackson this afternoon.

He left his keys in the car while picking up a bag of rice & the suspect got in the car.

The victim runs over & holds on to the vehicle. (Thread ⬇️) #StopAAPIHate

You can see the man suffered abrasions to many parts of his body including his face.

Thankfully two volunteer patrol groups & civilians stopped to translate, call 9-1-1 & render aid. OPD arrived minutes later as they were doing patrols nearby at the time.

Carl Chan, Oakland Chinatown Chamber pres said “ppl think crime is down especially [pertaining to] #aapi hate. It seems like it’s slowing down but it’s not. Report to PD…let ppl know these incidents happen in our community.”

These 82 & 72 y/os were tied up, mouths taped shut & shoved in a bathroom for 2 hrs while their San Jose home was ransacked.

The suspects even used the couple’s cell phone to call a translator to get their ATM PIN.

I have NEVER heard of that before. #StopAsianHate Thread ⬇️

They showed me how multiple attackers jumped over a fence, entered (while they were resting/watching Chinese soap operas) bound their wrists with their own belts.

The 82-year old man was hit on the head with a gun & a knife put to his throat.

Their car was then stolen & used in this home invasion the same day. (I shared this vid earlier this week.)

The homes are just 1 mile apart.

In that case, a man was w/his sleeping 15-month old when the group of 5 or 6 held him at gunpoint & kidnapped him & took him to an ATM.

Sagar was getting food around 11pm last Sat outside the Fox Theater in Oakland when he felt something hit the back of his head.

He lost consciousness & woke up in the hospital the next day bruised & beaten. His belongings inc wallet & phone were gone #StopAAPIHate (thread) ⬇️

Sagar & his GF think he was targeted b/c he is Nepalese. She told me:

A woman who asked to be ID’s as “Ms. Yu” parked her car near Foothill & 13th around 8:30PM 3/27 (1/5) #StopAsianHate

She didn’t notice anybody following her, but as she walked to the passenger side to get her bag noticed “4 or 5 guys” approach. At least one had a firearm.

As she ran away, one suspect “took my keys from my hand and pushed me to the ground…I hit my head.” (2/5) #StopAAPIHate

Seconds later, her car was gone & susps escaped in a nearby vehicle.

Along with her purse and laptop, her best friend’s wedding dress for her upcoming fall wedding was stolen.

They picked it up the gown one day earlier. Ms.Yu was going to store it at her home. #oakland (3/5)
