Talk about shame because abortion bans are intent on punishing us for daring to take ownership of our bodies and our sexual desire outside of the norm.
They aim to police our bodies and punish us for sex.
Abortion bans are driven by zealots and puritans – the day-to-day dictators who enforce that tyranny of ‘what will people say?’
What if we stopped hiding? What if we met the tyranny of ‘what will people say?’ with the audacity of visibility? feministgiant.com
An unwanted pregnancy should not be considered punishment for a sex drive or a determination to have consensual sex outside of the rules of patriarchy.
Abortion bans are driven by zealots and puritans. We must not dance to their agenda but instead fuck to our heart’s content whomever (with their consent, obviously) and whenever, secure in the knowledge and the right to determine the consequences. feministgiant.com/p/essay-the-se…

I understand why some want to use “pro forced birth” instead of “anti abortion,” to describe zealots behind abortion bans, but we must not shy away from the word “abortion.” I am pro abortion.
For as long as patriarchy can shroud abortion with silence it will continue to stamp it in shame. Knowing that, I broke my silence so that I could break free of shame. I am pro abortion. 📷 @rerutledfeministgiant.com/p/essay-on-abo…
At the inaugural Feminist Book Club event at @strandbookstore last night, Dr. Meera Shah was asked how we can fight back against abortion bans. She gave many great ideas including "Say the word 'abortion' more. Talk about it more." #AbortionIsNormal#AbortionIsHealthcare
The book club, co-presented by FEMINIST GIANT & @strandbookstore, launched w/ Dr. Shah's You're the Only One I've Told: The Stories Behind Abortion which inspired me to break the silence--refuse shame--around my abortions. TALK ABOUT ABORTION 📷 @rerutled feministgiant.com/p/essay-on-abo…

Shatter that silence, vanquish secrecy, drag abortion out of the shadows and into the public discourse as the human right that it is. Don't let abortion opponents constrain it with the straitjacket of shame and stigma. feministgiant.com/p/essay-on-abo…#AbortionRightsAreHumanRights
"Shame is...a societal and patriarchal construct...built around boxing us in...That’s why I feel so strongly about giving space to those ready to talk about issues deemed ‘shameful’ – like abortion," Dua Lipa on my essay for her newsletter Service95
And then later today, for inaugural Feminist Book Club event, co-presented by FEMINIST GIANT & @strandbookstore, I'll be in conversation with Dr. Meera Shah about her book You're the Only One I've Told: The Stories Behind Abortion.
