I understand why some want to use “pro forced birth” instead of “anti abortion,” to describe zealots behind abortion bans, but we must not shy away from the word “abortion.” I am pro abortion.
For as long as patriarchy can shroud abortion with silence it will continue to stamp it in shame. Knowing that, I broke my silence so that I could break free of shame. I am pro abortion. 📷 @rerutledfeministgiant.com/p/essay-on-abo…
At the inaugural Feminist Book Club event at @strandbookstore last night, Dr. Meera Shah was asked how we can fight back against abortion bans. She gave many great ideas including "Say the word 'abortion' more. Talk about it more." #AbortionIsNormal#AbortionIsHealthcare
The book club, co-presented by FEMINIST GIANT & @strandbookstore, launched w/ Dr. Shah's You're the Only One I've Told: The Stories Behind Abortion which inspired me to break the silence--refuse shame--around my abortions. TALK ABOUT ABORTION 📷 @rerutled feministgiant.com/p/essay-on-abo…

Shatter that silence, vanquish secrecy, drag abortion out of the shadows and into the public discourse as the human right that it is. Don't let abortion opponents constrain it with the straitjacket of shame and stigma. feministgiant.com/p/essay-on-abo…#AbortionRightsAreHumanRights
"Shame is...a societal and patriarchal construct...built around boxing us in...That’s why I feel so strongly about giving space to those ready to talk about issues deemed ‘shameful’ – like abortion," Dua Lipa on my essay for her newsletter Service95
And then later today, for inaugural Feminist Book Club event, co-presented by FEMINIST GIANT & @strandbookstore, I'll be in conversation with Dr. Meera Shah about her book You're the Only One I've Told: The Stories Behind Abortion.
And I have now become known to the The Daniels--who wrote and directed @allatoncemovie--as the "middle aged woman who wrote an essay that said #EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce is about menopause."
And here too: "I read this incredible review from a middle-aged woman who basically saw this film as a menopause movie. She said, "Oh, this film is the perfect metaphor for what I'm going through right now, as I'm going through menopause." filmfreakcentral.net/ffc/2022/04/da…
