1./ Is the LGBTQ+ lobby fit for purpose? If it's not erasing women's rights or promoting puberty blockers... #Stonewall messes with the minds of 2 year olds.👇
But perhaps it's the response to monkeypox which has best revealed the lobby's malign idiocy.
dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…
2./ The LGBTQ+ lobby's approach to monkeypox has been marked by all its trademark flaws: bullying groupthink, a bizarre inability to face facts and utter complacency about risks. These have contributed to monkeypox now being declared a global emergency.👇
theguardian.com/world/2022/jul…
3./ For years the LGBTQ+ lobby assured us it understood risks, whether it was of puberty blockers or trans access to women's spaces. That always seemed unlikely. After all, it denied anything happened at WiSpa right up until the alleged perp was charged.
nypost.com/2021/09/17/wi-…
4./ What monkeypox reveals is that when it comes to risks the LGBTQ+ lobby actually hasn't a clue. Only now are gay men being allowed to say "monkeypox is a gay thing." This appeared on July 19th. Why did it take so long for this obvious fact to be stated?
losangelesblade.com/2022/07/19/mon…
5./ The problem is that for weeks most of the LGBTQ+ lobby either dismissed the virus as inconsequential or resisted and even denounced any attempt to link monkeypox with gay men. Here's a lobbyist from @UNAIDS lambasting such a suggestion on May 27th.👇
lemonde.fr/en/environment…
6./ Here's another article the same day reporting on how LGBTQ+ activists were afraid of stigmatisation which might "spread like a virus". If only they'd been more afraid of something else that was spreading like a virus:...the ACTUAL monkeypox virus.🤦‍♂️
thestar.com/life/health_we…
7./ Notoriously, weeks ago, leading LBTQ+ activists denounced @ALLIANCELGB for highlighting the link between monkeypox and gay men, calling it medical disinformation or a "vile" homophobic trope. Now they're complaining about how that same link isn't being made clearly enough.👇
8./ When I pointed out Owen Jones's inconsistency he responded with jibes. It's par for the course. Name-calling and misrepresentation are the lobby's reflex reactions. The validity of an opponent's argument seems to depend for Owen on how much sex he thinks you're getting. 🤦‍♂️👇
9./ @ALLIANCELGB put out its first post on monkeypox on May 17th. This summarised information from our discussions with experts. At that stage it was still assumed the virus was transmitted -as usual- through close contact or in the air. 👇
10./ On May 19th I posted this briefing: everything you might want to know about monkeypox. It pointed out a previous outbreak in the US had nothing to do with sex. The virus had been transmitted through contact with exotic pets. Things soon changed... 👇
11./ A few days later it became clear that sex venues catering mainly to gay men had driven the European surge in monkeypox. That startling revelation which suggested possible transmission during sex appeared in articles like this from @PBS on May 23rd. 👇
pbs.org/newshour/healt…
12./ The evidence was mounting that somehow the virus had found a new way to transmit itself (during sex) in a new population (gay men). On the same day, May 23rd, Pink News reported a gay sauna in Madrid had been closed down due to cases linked to it.👇
pinknews.co.uk/2022/05/23/mon…
13./ By the end of May there was a judgment call to be made. Either gay men could take a one way bet that the beleaguered NHS could quickly acquire tens of thousands of vaccines and roll them out efficiently or we could in the meantime try to slow the transmission of the virus.
14./ It seemed possible the race to obtain monkeypox vaccines would run into problems. Manufacture and distribution of this vaccine depend on a complex global supply chain and nations might compete with each other just as they did on COVID vaccines.👇
15./ Of course there were useful arguments to be had about @ALLIANCELGB's call for sex venues to be closed. A mature, evidence-based lobby would have debated the pros and cons. As it turns out the vaccine rollout has faced difficulties. Quelle surprise.
cnbc.com/2022/07/15/mon…
16./ Owen Jones is still describing the call for sex venues to close for a whole month as "unhinged". But what *was* the unhinged alternative the LGBTQ+ lobby came up with? First, they played down links between the outbreak and gay men which stymied health advice for a month.👇
17./ The denial of the most obvious medical fact about the outbreak was compounded by over-optimism about vaccine rollout and complacency about the virus itself which was invariably described as mild. Now some gay spokespeople are trying to correct that. Better late than never.
18./ Even the Guardian is now reporting that 10-15% of those infected face distinctly un-mild symptoms. This bloke worked in sexual health but didn't realise monkeypox was an actual threat. That speaks to the terrible job the lobby did in warning people.
theguardian.com/world/2022/jul…
19./ The painful bleeding lesions he suffers are a new symptom we've never seen with monkeypox before and that's been distinct to gay men. Any half-decent gay lobby group should have been shouting about the dangers of this the second it was discovered. Instead: almost nada.
20./ The guy in the Guardian article was infected during New York Pride. At least that carried warning messages about monkeypox on social media feeds. It's an utter disgrace that London Pride ignored @UKHSA advice and did not warn attendees about the dangers.
21./ Here's a perfect emblem of the failure of the LGBTQ+ lobby: Stonewall's CEO cavorting at Pride having failed to provide any useful advice about a disease affecting gay men alongside Jolyon Maugham who described @ALLIANCELGB's monkeypox warning as "gay plague messaging".🤦‍♂️👇
22./ The real plague affecting gay men isn't monkeypox. It's a sclerotic and bullying LGBTQ+ lobby which claims to speak in our name. Monkeypox shows their idiocy and obsession with gender identity means they no longer take our lives or health seriously. It's time ...for a cure.

1./ Is Owen Jones lying about monkeypox? 7 weeks ago he laughed as @ALLIANCELGB had a post taken down warning monkeypox affected gay men disproportionately. Today, he complains monkeypox advice doesn't emphasise the threat to gay men enough. Are Owen's little pants on fire?
2./ Maybe health experts were reluctant to emphasise the link between gay men and monkeypox because Owen and his buddies denounced anyone like LGB Alliance who made the link? @benjamincohen said it was a vile trope. A certain Owen Jones called it medical disinformation.👇
3./ Owen now tries to blame government homophobia for the spread. Really? Did the organisers of Pride follow @UKHSA govt advice and warn no one should attend if they had monkeypox symptoms? No. In fact they didn't once mention the virus. Neither did @SadiqKhan at the time.

1. What has @ALLIANCELGB done for lesbians and gays? It’s so inspiring to see gay people standing up for the only UK charity that focuses exclusively on the rights of the same sex attracted. Here’s my own personal choice of things that @ALLIANCELGB has done for us.
2./ For a start, LGB Alliance lobbies on gay people’s behalf at all levels of society and government. It’s been consulted on proposed legislation by Parliamentarians like @MinFreerHMG and @ShonaRobison and nowhere has been beyond our reach. 😏👇
3./ We’ve organised massive national events that attempt to shift the debate around same-sex rights and we do it respectfully. By bringing thought leaders and opinion-formers together we hope to find imaginative ways round the current impasse on gender v sex.

1./ Is "trans conversion therapy" a myth? I only ask because recent UK news coverage is struggling to find a single example. Take this story by the illiterati at Pink News. After last week's huge rally all they could come up with was a story about a lesbian, from the 1970s.🤦‍♂️
2./ Yep, shock horror, in 1975 a Catholic priest tried to convert a lesbian in Ireland. All very creepy but the idea *that* has anything to do with life in the UK now is ridiculous. And least of all anything to do with the campaign to ban TRANS conversion therapy here.
3./ PN's accompanying photograph of a protest in Whitehall, where this week's ban trans conversion therapy rally was held, is clearly an attempt to associate the two stories. But even that's not quite as deceptive as the last news story on the subject.👇

1./ What are the scientific arguments for and against closing down sex venues due to monkeypox? First an update. The UK now has 1235 confirmed cases of monkeypox. A week ago it was 910. More than 99% of the cases are men; the majority gay or bisexual.
gov.uk/government/pub…
2./@UKHSA: "Cases of monkeypox infection were confirmed in England from 6 May 2022. The outbreak has mainly been in gay, bisexual, and men who have sex with men without documented history of travel to endemic countries".
3./ This exponential rise in cases is likely to slow through vaccinations and changes in behaviour as awareness rises. But as with any virus behaving in unexpected ways this can not be guaranteed. Especially if the virus is evolving faster than predicted.

1./ The biggest problem gay people have in the UK today is the idiocy of those who claim to speak in our name. An example: Lloyd Russel-Moyle MP suggesting teenagers should be taught in school safe ways to do risky sex acts such as auto-asphyxiation. How would that even work?👇
2./ @MForstater is absolutely right (as ever). No teacher could give such advice. Maybe he expects it to be given by one of the fruitloopy groups currently dispensing gender garbage to kids like the "fact" sex doesn't exist. That'd be a groomer's charter.
3./ Russel-Moyle's comments are shocking but maybe we shouldn't be so surprised. Many of those, like him, who are most stridently in support of Gender Self-ID, have recently revealed their true views. Who could forget Crispin Blunt defending a convicted paedophile? Twice.

1./ If you want proof the LGBTQ+ lobby is not in safe hands, then read this. The @independent is "the official publishing partner" of @PrideInLondon. Yet here it is celebrating an amateur castration clinic set up in a rural tractor barn.👇

independent.co.uk/news/world/ame…
2./ No criticism is offered despite the founder admitting they did no mental health assessments. Castration is presented as easy and simple. At one point, it's even suggested it's something people in the past could have done for themselves. This is absurdly irresponsible.
3./ We already know there's a subculture of troubled people who have a deep desire to harm themselves, often through self-loathing. Many can be exploited. A guy was arrested earlier this year in London. He was charging to watch castrations he did; live.👇 telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/02/0…
