#SupremeCourtBarAssociation to hold Farewell function on the superannuation of Justice AM Khanwilkar, Judge, #SupremeCourtOfIndia, today.

Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, Vice President, SCBA, while bidding farewell to Justice Khanwilkar said, I have seen Lordship always working in the interest of bar and also a better coordination between bench and bar.
Rai: I recall one incident Lordship object to our President Vikas Singh's protest march and Your Lordship said you can't even think about this. That statement can come only from a leader of the bar.
Rai: There are kind of person if you talk in terms of fruits, there are people like grapes who are soft from out side and soft from inside, people like pomegranate who are hard from outside and soft inside... Your Lordship is a soft looking person like prune and hard from inside.
Rai: There should be persons like him who motivate us to grow in life and achieve something because we should have some role models and you are one of them.
Vikramjeet Banerjee, Additional Solicitor General, while bidding farewell to Justice Khanwilkar, the great thing that I observed while going through his judgements and even as a lawyer he was actively involved in the constructive development of the law.
Banerjee: Justice Khanwilkar ofcourse was part of various benches giving landmark judgements, judgment which struck me, Vikas Rao Gawali Vs. Maharashtra where he interestingly observed that quantum of reservation of OBCs ought to be localised while not exceeding the 50% cealing.
Banerjee: Justice Khanwilkar again being very interestingly being a proponent of transperancy in judicial proceedings, the Court issued guidelines for streaming of SC cases involving matters of national importance, which observed that "the Sun light is the best disinfectant."
"Whenever I appeared before Justice Khanwilkar I always saw that he had great ability to dissect matters immediately so he could come to the crux of the matter", Banerjee added.
Banerjee: Sir, we'll miss you, best wishes on your onward journey and may God be with you every step of the way.
Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, President, SCBA, while bidding farewell to Justice Khanwilkar said, "Justice Khanwilkar says that he has come here by chance, by luck and I say there is no luck for anybody who does not rise to the ocassion."
Singh: That is the message I want to give to the youngsters of this profession, by sheer hard work people noticed his dedication to brief, to matters, to how he argue, how he prepared that within a year being in Delhi (Supreme Court) got offer for Standing Counsel for Maharashtra
Singh: While emphasizing modernity Justice Khanwilkar also reminded us to look back at our ancient legal system, he spoke about the concept of justice while tracing back to Vedic times stating that rule of reason, logic and meta physics can be seen there.
Singh: He said that the Constitution is a perfect reflection of the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and the need of the hour is to target clogging dockets and tattered justice delivery system and a revisit to Indigenise our rich legal system.
Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana while bidding farewell to Justice Khanwilkar said the Vice President did some Jasusi kind of thing and told about drawing room things, ASG told us about his judgements and the President told us about other things, so nothing much is left for me.
CJI Ramana: Brother Justice Khanwilkar has worked very hard and contributed a lot to the system and now even though he is retiring today, I'm certain that he'll continue working hard in some capacity or other.
Justice Khanwilkar while delivering his address said that It has been a long journey of 40 years, I'm still trying to grapple with the thought that I just came in the profession, I'm still there or I'm leaving this profession. I must say that this profession has given me a lot.
Justice Khanwilkar: It is the complement offered by the CJI to Mr Vikas Singh that he has a good IB setup and the Chief Justice's IB is also no less, he also got some information that I never shared with anyone.
Justice Khanwilkar: I'm greatful to all of you who came here and I congratulate all of you.

As Justice Khanwilkar, Judge, #SupremeCourt is set to superannuate today. There will be a ceremonial bench in the court headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and comprising of Justices Khanwilkar, Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli.
Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, President, SCBA, bidding farewell to Justice Khanwilkar said that loosing a judge who is very active and a workaholic is very sad. If Lordships desire to retire I would request Your Lordships not to retire. I hope you get more time to do other things.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that I join Mr Singh in saying that Justice Khanwilkar is very young and I wish him all the best.

#SupremeCourt will today hear a batch of petitions challenging the validity of the provisions of Places of Worship Act, 1991.
DYC J: We can issue notice and tag with other petitions. How many petitions will be filed? You can always intervene.
We will say since 2 Writ petitions have been entertained by the court, it will be permissible for them to intervene in the proceedings.
CSV Sr. Adv: Would court tag it without issuing notice?

Hansaria, Sr.Adv: Lordships may tag these matters. Some of the grounds are different milords.

DYC J: The petitioners will be at liberty to supplement in the grounds in the main petitions.
