Dictionaries/wikipedia changing the meaning of words in order to help the left win arguments.

A thread🧵

@Cernovich gives us our first example: wikipedia redefining "recession" to help Democrats👇
2/
When Republicans put Amy Coney-Barret on the Supreme court the left chaged the meaning of "court-packing" and dictionary .com went along with it. ImageImage
3/
Speaking of Amy Coney-Barret...

When Amy Coney-Barret used the term "preference" wbile discussing sexual orientation the left pretended that "preference" was offensive, and Merriam-Webster changed the definition in order to make that lie stick👇 ImageImage
4/
The transgender people got merriam-webster the change the definition of the word "female" to include "gender identity" (pic 1) when that was nowhere to found as recently as 2019 (pic 2) ImageImage
5/
Of course changing the meaning of "female" means changing the meaning of "girl"

(H/T @libsoftiktok) ImageImage
6/
And of course changing the meaning of '"girl" means changing the meaning of "boy" ImageImage
7/
We also find that vox celebrating the fact that Merriam-Webster changed the definition of racism to include purely "systemic oppression." ImageImageImage
8/
@chadfelixg points out that google changed the definition of the word bigot ImageImageImage
9/
The left did not like us pointing out their use of "cultural marxism" (a term found in academic literature to refer to marxist cultural analysis) so they changed the meaning of that word to be an anti-semitic conspiracy theory... and wikipedia went along with it.👇 Image
10/
The left did not lile non-white voting for Trump...so they changed the definition of "whiteness" to include black, brown, and hispanic people.

The dictionary didn't go along with this...but the washington post sure did. ImageImage
11/
The game the left is playing is to shift the definitions of words in their favor, and then get dictionaries and wikipedia (the common sources people use to check definitions) to do their dirty work and change the official definition to reflect what the left wants.
12/
The left can't win on the merits so they have to play fast and loose with the definitions. They have to use linguistic sleight of hand to make it look like they're winning.
13/
@JackPosobiec points out that wikipedia has redefined the word "definition"

About Jordan Peterson...

The inability of nearly everyone in elite/respectable/mainstream institutions to understand the appeal of @jordanbpeterson is a symptom of the very deficiency within those institutions that created the void that Jordan Peterson is stepping into...
2/
This reminds me of the conservative discussion about Lena Dunham during mid 2000's - 2010's.

Many people tried to half heartedly explain the appeal of Lena Dunham by saying "she's a flash in the pan" or "liberals are stupid" or "she's popular because of clever marketing"
3/
All that was wrong.

Lena Dunham was popular because an audience shared her ideas and worldview, and her show gave voice to and was an expression of the anxieties of young, secular, educated, liberal, soon to be professional managerial and creative class Millenial women.

Deconstruction (and the postmodernism which spawned it) ultimately leads to 2 existentially unliveable consequences:

1. The death of the logos (rational principle that gives order and meaning to reality)

And consequently

2. The erasure of the Summum Bonum (highest good)
2/
Because postmodernism says all conceptions of rationality, reason, and truth are constructed by people who were biased and self-interested, it denies there actually is any such thing as a logos.

Thus, there is no trascendant principle that gives order and meaning to reality.
3/
Because there is no logos, no transcendant principle that orders reality and provides it's meaning, there is no logos, not transcendant principle we can use to order our lives and society, and there is nothing which provides our lives and our society with objective meaning.

Jordan Peterson made a video saying Churches should welcome men, men should go to church, and they can help each other.

@kkdumez responded with a quote from her book and I promise its the most amazing jumble of word association and non-squitor you'veever seen in your life
2/
First she mentions "Hobby Lobby masculinity."

What she did is (and this is true) wander through a Hobby Lobby, notice it's mostly a women's store, but that there is a mens section. Then, on the basis of the products in the mens section concluded Hobby Lobby is about conquest.

This is a type of Foucauldian "discourse analysis." (FDA)

The idea is to "read" things (words, symbols, art, fashion, objects, anything that carries meaning) then analyze them in terms of how power works

Here are the 5 steps of FDA. Uou can see this is what Du Mez is doing

This is foul.

@ostrachan disagrees with Rachel Delhollanders interpretation, and this woman decides to use a quote Owen made about how Ravi Zacharias "could have been him" (Owen meant that he, like everyone, is sinful and capable of evil) to insinuate Owen is like Ravi Zacharias
And she knows *EXACTLY* what she is doing.

Her goal here is nothing more than to smear @ostrachan by using a misinterpretation of what Owen said so she can insinuate that Owen is morally like Ravi Zacharias.

This is gross, ugly, disgusting, underhanded stuff
The lesson here is to never ever expect better from followers of Christ. They are, and I cannot stress this enough, no better than atheists.

Fwiw, I happen to think scripture is ambiguous as to the social mechanics at play here. It is not explicit about whether or not...

This is a deep misunderstanding of the life of David.

David failed nearly every step along the way.
- going to Ziklag
- seeking to Kill Nahum (until Abigail intervened)
- lying and getting the preists of the Lord Killed at Nob

David was always screwing up. So this is wrong...
David was always sinning and lying and messing up. The thing that saves David and makes him "the man after God's own heart" is that he REPENTED.

David's repeatedly repents and turns back the the lord when he fails. THAT is what makes him the man after God's own heart...
The entire whether it is strengthening himself in the Lord after the tragedy at Ziklag or saying "better to fall into the hands of God than the hands of men" after he counted the fighting men when the Lord said no...David ALWAYS repented and returned to the Lord.
