As the new President enjoys the pomp and ceremony today as parliament reconvenes, here are a few nuggets of news to ponder on that is all overseen and implicitly or explicitly happening under his administration.

1. Prasanna Ranatunga appoints a close relative to the position of UDA chairman. He was also appointed to various positions when the said minister was handling the tourism portfolio.

2. Nimal Siripala de Silva has been released from bribery charges by committee and immediately given a cabinet portfolio.

3. The main racist enforcer of the Rajapaksas has given a full throated endorsement of the new President with no push back.

4. Namal paves the way for a return and diminishes or discredits what the Aragalaya has achieved so far. This narrative is being spread systematically through their social media and main stream media boosters.

Meanwhile suppression of dissent continues and the path has been cleared for the return of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa back to Sri Lanka and for the Rajapaksas to emerge once again.

There is still no cohesive economic recovery plan, no debt restructure, no international support, no all party national government, no logic to recent activities that would further distance friendly nations and agencies other than a Rajapaksa backed effort to pivot to China.

Either way the current political leadership seems to care more about protecting their power at any cost, even burn this country down just to rule over its ashes.
