📣📣📣 THREAD: Dems are facing headwinds in 2022, but the tide has started to turn! WE. CAN. DO. THIS!

In 2022 we need to save democracy again. Money isn't everything, but it's still an important tool.

Here's multiple fed/state races to support: 1/
americabluein22.com
1. First, we desperately need to keep the #HouseBlueIn22! If the GOP takes control you’ll have racist, anti-science lunatics like MTG, Matt Gaetz & Lauren Boebert in charge. DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN.

This page includes races in half the states; donate today! secure.actblue.com/donate/housebl…
2. This page includes federal House races in the other half of the states; donate today!
secure.actblue.com/donate/housebl…
3. It's vitally important to ADD to our Senate majority! We need a few more Dem Senators willing to reform (or even eliminate) the filibuster to prevent a handful of wayward Dems from continuing to block the Democratic agenda. Donate today! #SenateBlueIn22 secure.actblue.com/donate/senateb…
4. While control of the federal government is vital, we've also learned how much power Governors have when it comes to protecting reproductive rights and so much more.

Help make #GovsBlueIn22 by donating to these races today!
secure.actblue.com/donate/govblue…
5. Secretary of State has always been an important job, but the GOP's endless attempts to overturn the 2020 election and *especially* their aggressive moves to nullify U.S. democracy add a new urgency to making sure it's #SOSBlueIn22. Donate today! secure.actblue.com/donate/sosblue…
6. Besides helping decide whether democracy is saved, now that the Supreme Court has struck down Roe vs. Wade, state AGs across the country will play a critical role in the fate of women to control their own bodies.

Donate today to make #AGsBlueIn22: secure.actblue.com/donate/agsblue…
7. Republicans have known this for decades, but many Democrats seem to just now realizing how vitally important JUDICIAL races can be.

This page will let you donate directly to Dem-endorsed STATE SUPREME COURT candidates: secure.actblue.com/donate/statesu…
8. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ It's the STATE LEGISLATURES which have the most control over the fate of U.S. democracy. We MUST flip control of as many state Senates / Houses as possible!

In MICHIGAN, we have a shot at flipping both!

Help make #MIBlueIn22 by donating today! secure.actblue.com/donate/bluemi2…
9. PENNSYLVANIA is another state where Dems have a chance at flipping control of the state legislature.

Again, it won't be easy but if you help out these candidates we have a shot; donate today to make #PABlueIn22! secure.actblue.com/donate/pablue22
10. NORTH CAROLINA: Again, the odds may be against us this year but there's still a chance at flipping at least one of the two legislative bodies.

Donate today to help make #NCBlueIn22! secure.actblue.com/donate/ncblue22
11. ARIZONA is another state where Dems have a slim chance at flipping control of one of the legislative bodies.

Remember, you can pick & choose which ones to donate to; help make #AZBlueIn22! secure.actblue.com/donate/azblue22
12. NEVADA currently has Democratic majorities in both the state House & Senate, but both are in danger of being lost.

Help ensure that we keep #NVBlueIn22 by donating today: secure.actblue.com/donate/nvblue22
13. OHIO has, sadly, turned red in recent years but Dems can still prevent a GOP supermajority, and improving down-ballot turnout can also help flip statewide seats. Donate today to help make #OHBlueIn22!
secure.actblue.com/donate/ohblue22
14. MINNESOTA has a split-control legislature: Republicans control the state Senate while Democrats control the state House. Either one could flip this fall.

Donate today to bring BOTH under DFL control and make sure it's #MNBlueIn22! secure.actblue.com/donate/mnblue22
15. Like Ohio, MISSOURI has, sadly, turned red in recent years but Dems can still prevent a GOP supermajority and increasing down-ballot turnout could also increase statewide turnout & potentially give us a shot at another U.S. Senate seat! #MOBlueIn22 secure.actblue.com/donate/moblue22
16. Like Nevada, Dems currently hold a trifecta in COLORADO, but the legislature is at risk. Help make sure we keep #COBlueIn22 by donating today: secure.actblue.com/donate/coblue22
17. Again, NEW MEXICO has a Democratic trifecta but we need to make sure it stays that way! Help keep #NMBlueIn22 by donating to these races today: secure.actblue.com/donate/nmblue22
18. Like OH & MO, INDIANA is a pretty red state, but flipping some legislative seats blue could at least break the GOP supermajority (& better turnout can also help @RepMrvan retain his seat ing #IN01). Donate today to make #INBlueIn22: secure.actblue.com/donate/inblue22
📣 19. GEORGIA is trending blue statewide, but at the legislative district level it's gonna take a bit longer. Help speed up that process (while also boosting @StaceyAbrams & @RaphaelWarnock) by donating to these races! Make #GABlueIn22! secure.actblue.com/donate/gablue22
20. WISCONSIN! The cheese state has been gerrymandered to hell but Dems can still fight back against the GOP supermajority (and help
@GovEvers and @TheOtherMandela win statewide!) Donate to make #WIBlueIn22 today!
secure.actblue.com/donate/wibluei…
21. KANSAS: Flipping the state legislature likely isn't in the cards but preventing a GOP supermajority definitely is! Plus, boosting Dem turnout downballot also helps re-elect
@GovLauraKelly! Donate today to make #KSBlueIn22: secure.actblue.com/donate/ksblue22
22: The MAINE House & Senate are under Dem control but both majorities are shaky. Thanks to Maine's public campaign finance laws, only a handful of candidates require outside funding, but these swing district Dems could use that help to keep #MEBlueIn22: secure.actblue.com/donate/meblue22
23. IOWA: Another state which has trended red recently, but we can help prevent a GOP supermajority! Plus, boosting Dem turnout down-ballot also helps @FrankeforIowa flip a U.S. Senate seat! Donate today to make #IABlueIn22: secure.actblue.com/donate/iablue22
AND I'M NOT DONE YET!

Coming up next: FLORIDA, followed by other states to be named later...

Meanwhile, while I have the federal & statewide races listed first, I'd actually encourage folks to consider prioritizing the STATE LEGISLATIVE races: americabluein22.com/state_leg/

For anyone who thinks my annual rate filing analysis is easy to do, I present Cigna Healthcare of Illinois: ImageImage
Cigna only has 96 enrollees out of ~350K or so statewide in Illinois, so it doesn't move the needle, but that's a pretty big discrepancy between the actual rate filing and what the federal gov't database claims!
Really, @molinahealth? You've redacted your COMPANY CONTACT INFORMATION from the rate filing? Image

Can someone explain why a lottery winner should take the lump sum instead of the 29-yr payments when doing so loses like 40% of the total before taxes?

“I can’t wait another year before getting ANOTHER check for $44 million! I have to get it TODAY!”
I suppose they might be suspicious of the state changing their lottery laws over the next 3 decades or whatever?
A lot of people talking about “doing a better job of investing it” but taking the regular payment option amounts to getting a 66% return on an “investment” which you never had to invest in the first place.

I guess I could see that logic for a smaller jackpot in the $10M range…

🚨 As of this morning, county prosecutors in Michigan can legally start enforcing the state's 1931 abortion ban.

Today would be a VERY good day to donate to help Those Women From Michigan.

THREAD. I was going to redact both of their names/districts, but I gave @DavisKatybeth 9 hours to discuss it privately via DM w/out any response, and @JohnDahlgren1 *follows me* on Twitter but still didn't think to contact me privately first, so responding publicly seems fair. 1/ ImageImage
As it happens, just yesterday I posted a thread in which I gave a detailed explanation of my reasoning re. which candidates I raise $ for.

Ironically, that thread was inspired by someone criticizing me for INCLUDING "long shot" races. 2/
That thread included a deep dive into the dilemma between the "stick to the swing seats" vs. "don't abandon red seat Dems!" approach.

The complaints both candidates aired are valid ones. It's incredibly frustrating to try and run as a Dem in a deep red area for many reasons. 3/

THREAD: Since @BenSpielberg has decided to post a whole thread criticizing my fundraising philosophy, allow me to once again explain how it works. 1/
There's a debate about whether Dems should focus entirely on "swing states/districts" or if they should take "compete everywhere!" You don't want to abandon Dems living in deep red states/districts, but you also don't want to flush millions down the drain on no-chance races. 2/
The poster child for this debate in 2020 was Amy McGrath in Kentucky. Something like $90 million was dumped on her race only for her to lose by nearly 20 points. That $90M could've gone to hundreds of other state/federal races which had a better chance. 3/

This tweet is a perfect example of why, while I appreciate his work on the J6 committee and willingness to call out his party’s descent into fascism, Rep. Kinzinger still just doesn’t get it.

She was addressing blind disability activists. It’s called compassion and decency.
I wonder if @AdamKinzinger has a similar problem w/subtitles in movies or with ASL interpreters being onstage during speeches?

I also wonder if he knows that the #ADA was signed into law by GOP President George H.W. Bush after being championed by GOP Senator Bob Dole?
Also worth noting that @AdamKinzinger voted for Donald Trump AFTER this happened:
