Replace the phrase "just as destructive as" with "infinitely worse than" and this sentence will become accurate:

It was a widespread consensus of liberals from 2001-2008 that Dick Cheney wasn't just misguided or politically wrong, but was a tyrannical monster, a war criminal and deeply corrupt goon (Halliburton).

Do they ever ask themselves why he now harbors so much contempt for Trump?
I'm firmly against holding someone responsible for the crimes and bad acts of their father or other relatives.

But Liz Cheney was a vehement and unyielding supporter of everything her father did - the worst of the worst - and continues to defend those policies through to today.
The primary purpose of isolating Trump as an unprecedented, singular evil is to allow the war criminals, corrupt scumbags and lawless and sociopathic monsters who preceded him to find absolution and redemption with the cheap tactic of opposing Trump. This one tweet shows it all:

Is it that this duo -- once called Nazis -- are actually noble patriots of integrity and law?

Or is it that Trump campaigned on the most vocal denunciation of neocon foreign policy since Ron Paul - and won?
One of the most favored tactics of US liberals is guilt-by-association. If you stand next to or talk to the wrong person, you're guilty of all their sins.

Yet they never ask why they're in a post-Trump alliance with those they spent 2 decades calling Nazis, racists and fascists.

That a set of unelected, permanent power factions run DC - independent of election outcomes - was what Eisenhower warned of. Leftist foreign policy scholars long called it the Deep State. Leftist economists called it "rule by oligarchy." Liberals now cast it as scary and radical.
Also: note how fast the liberal punditocracy moved from "Trump is a once-in-a-lifetime Hitler-like danger!!" to "whichever mildly anti-establishment Republicans come after Trump are *worse than Trump*"! Much like 2003 Bush was Hitler but is now nice.

Bernie doesn't even pretend any more to have anything resembling a left-wing foreign policy or any minimal divergence from the neocon-driven Dem Party's foreign policy dogma.

Here @mtaibbi reviews the 2 films by the great documentarian Alex Lee Moyer: on "incel" subculture ("TFW No GF") and her latest, a documentary on Alex Jones ("Alex's War"). My admiration for Moyer's filmmaking is what caused me to agree to host the premiere, and I'm glad I did.👇
Separately, Taibbi interviews Moyer about her interest in outcasts (incels and Jones), and why journalists can't understand her films: because she does *journalism*, showing viewers the truth and lets them decide, rather than performatively denouncing:

In sum, no matter how much you distrust and despise the liberal wing of the corporate media, it's not nearly enough:
I was just on Fox discussing what I still regard as the single worst journalistic and political scandal of the last decade - the CIA-manufactured lie about the documents revealing Biden's activities in China and Ukraine ("Russian disinformation") - and the role the media played.
Just two weeks before Americans voted for President, most liberal outlets ratified and spread a lie from CIA about these docs, which Big Tech then used to justify *brute censorship* of the story. Millions of Americans, as intended, voted without knowing about these revelations.
