Yesterday, Zionist forces murdered Ghufran Warasneh, a 31 year old journalist from Al-Arroub camp near Hebron. She was the eldest in her family and the main support for her younger siblings. Image
Ghufran was going to her first day of work at a new job at a local radio station when she was shot in the chest.

“We were waiting for her to be the first to go on air as our new voice, but instead we received the news of her killing." The station said.
Ghufran is the second journalist killed by occupation forces in less than a month, after the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh.
Mourners in Ghufran’s community were attacked by the Zionist army as they were carrying her body to burial, much like what occurred during Shireen’s funeral.

FUSAKO SHIGENOBU IS FINALLY FREE!

Japanese freedom fighter Fusako Shigenobu was released from prison in Japan today after 20 years in detention. She is lifelong comrade of the Palestinian people and struggle.
Shigenobu was born in Tokyo in 1945 & first became radicalized as part of the ‘60s student movement in Japan, where she led organizing efforts against US imperialism in Japan & globally. Shigenobu eventually joined Palestinians in Lebanon to fight alongside them for over 30 years
..in their struggle to liberate Palestine. When Shigenobu was arrested for her revolutionary work, she told onlooking crowds, “I’ll fight on!” Even when on trial, she never wavered in her principled commitment to anti-imperialism and the Palestinian struggle.

Today marks the 5th anniversary of the martyrdom of intellectual and resistance fighter Basel al-Araj by zionist forces. Basel was a community organizer who engaged Palestinian youth in popular education about the history of Palestinian resistance.
In 2016, Basel, along with 5 of his comrades, was arrested, tortured, and interrogated by Palestinian Authority police for his powerful political writing and agitation against the PA’s normalization with the zionist state.
The men, who were held without charge, went on hunger strike to protest their detention. The hunger strike, along with a public campaign for their release, eventually pressured the PA into letting them walk free.

Forcing civil society orgs to carry on their work underground is a tactic used not only by Israel but historically by the US to quash the Black liberation movement through COINTELPRO and similar surveillance programs aimed at destroying the Black Panthers, MOVE, etc.
The targeting of these orgs as “terrorist” operations is an attempt to punish & silence organizers who do the work of documenting the occupation’s violence & brutality, & for exposing the true motives of Zionist project that has caused a global shift in Palestinian support.
