In the days before Uber, I can’t count the number of times I would be out in Manhattan trying to hail a yellow cab, only for the taxi to drive right by me and pick up a white person standing 10’ past me down the same block. 1/
Not ONCE in all those times did any white person turn down the cab, offer me the cab, or do anything other than literally WATCH the cab pass me and still hop in on their merry way. Never. /2
Did they make the racist decision to not pick me up? Obviously, no. But, they each chose to benefit from their privilege and literally provided the environment in which the racist cabbies could ply their trade without consequence /3
Benefitting from someone else’s racism IS racism. I don’t know how to state it more clearly /4
And, yes, this is a thread inspired by #bb24, because my head is exploding looking at the discourse giving Michael cover for just engaging in “gameplay.”
Last point: seeing first hand that 99.9% of white people won’t cede their privilege for the penny ante stakes of waiting two extra minutes for a cab in light rain, is why EYE know they’re not voluntarily ceding power over anything that really matters /FIN

People are really trying to give Michael credit for that “it’ll kill me a little less” aside about Kyle?? That’s the weakest possible sauce, and you’re eating it up? #yikes#bb24
I was telling a colleague about my solo Turkey Day plans, and they responded by inviting my to their house w/their spouse and kid???
I know it was coming from a good place. But... WHAT??
I’m not seeing my parents who live a sort 3.5 hours drive away, because of the pandemic. How am I going to spend it with relative strangers during the same pandemic?
I know someone who used to work for Trump Org, back in the mists of time, when it was, basically, 7-8 people.
One day, the guy who did the commercial tenanting was driving into the office from NJ. Apparently, there was very heavy fog on the palisades around the GWB. . .
So, this poor guy thought he was going into a turn lane, and ended up in a head on collision with an oncoming car, and he was killed. . .
