About 1500 words today. Not a lot, but they're good words. I love sitting on my awesome deck with a view of the mountain peaks and agonizing over every individual word as I need it.

I write slow. I go back and edit as I go. You're not supposed to do that, but that's my process. All the writing people say you're supposed to get it all down fast, then go back and edit. I edit afterwards too, and then edit again, and keep doing that.

2/4
I even re-edit things I've already published. I think it makes be a better writer, because I always see places for improvement. and the things I see lead me to write better as I go. It's slow, but it's what I do.

I think this re-write of my early novel is the best stuff I've ever done. I love the people whose stories I'm telling. I want them to shine, whether anyone else reads it or not.

Besides, they're demanding I do this right, and some of them are scary.

I tweeted yesterday about how Manchin wrote the biggest climate bill ever (and it'll pass the Senate today). Sinema improved it. Sanders did nothing.

Well, Sanders tried to modify it overnight, and that failed spectacularly.

These are just facts. Draw what conclusion you want.
My tweet yesterday got lots of blowback about hoe "divisive" it was, mostly from the people who want to primary incumbent Democrats and who complain about every major bill Democrats enact as being too small, too late, or too "corporate." Kinda amusing.
I was also informed how Sanders was really the main driving force behind the Manchin-Schumer bill, because he's been the only one talking about climate--forgetting every Democratic presidential candidate since Al Gore has made climate a priority. Sanders is just photobombing. it

Just so y'all know--

If/when Trump is indicted on charges relating to an attempt to overthrow America, that won't stop him from spreading lies, raising money, holding hate rallies, or anything else. In fact, he'll do =more= of all of that, and rile his supporters further.

1/4
I say this, because the dO sOmEtHiNg NoW! people keep saying, "We have to indict Trump, because he's still doing <fill in whatever>!"

They don't realize indicting Trump will enrage (not subdue) his cult, and energize (not slow) Trump's activities. It won't stop <whatever>.

2/4
I'm NOT saying Trump shouldn't be indicted, prosecuted, tried, and sent to prison. He definitely should be.

I'm saying doing so won't have the effect which the dO sOmEtHiNg NoW! peeps are using as the reason we should indict Trump.

Lots is being made of the temporary blip in inflation. "Highest rate in 40 years!"

40 years ago was the height of Ronald Reagan's "Miracle Economy" everyone loved so much.

Current inflation is being driven by three factors:

1/8
1) Recovery from the Trump Recession, the worst global recession since the 1920s. Coming out of something like that causes a great deal of pent-up demand. Companies shut down during the recession, that causes a lag in ramping production back up.

2/8
High demand + low production = higher prices. Simple economics.

2) Second factor: Gas prices. Higher energy costs raise the cost of everything else. Higher gas prices are a result of corporate profit-taking.

What have we done?

With the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure bill, and the climate/drug bill, in 2 years Dems have invested 2 1/2 to 3 times as much as the ENTIRE New Deal AND Interstate Highway System COMBINED.

1/7
Democrats ended America's longest war, achieved 3.6% unemployment with the fastest job growth in history, recovered from the worst recession in a century, gave every American access to life-saving vaccines, restored NATO, ...

2/7
.. united the world against Russia's attack on Ukraine, is running Congressional and criminal investigations into the largest conspiracy and worst attack on American democracy ever, appointed the first black woman to the Supreme Court, rebuilt the entire Executive Branch ...

The DOJ's investigation is getting very close to Trump. Multiple witnesses are coming forward, and DOJ is going to court to preemptively challenge Trump's expected privilege claims before forcing Trump's inner circle to testify before grand juries.

1/8
cnn.com/2022/07/28/pol…
By now, DOJ knows what questions to ask those witnesses, and has done all the groundwork to brush away any objections those witnesses will have to answering.

This confirms the wisdom of AG Garland's approach, as contrasted with the impatience of Twitter Bluechecks.

2/8
A number of bigname Former Prosecutors have been insisting DOJ should have indicted Trump months ago, and worried about whether there's any evidence of a crime, or of who committed it, THAT WOULD BE ADMISSIBLE IN COURT sometime later, since "we all know he's guilty."

It's Hair Furor's intent, if he again extrudes to power, to slide his tiny fists into iron gloves and pummel the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, states, Democrats, and any he disagrees with, under the guise of bringing order.

A dangerous terrorist.

It's impossible to overestimate the damage Mango Mangebeast would wreak. He is now talking flat-out unapologetic full-frontal fascist authoritarianism; nationalizing local police forces, marching in the National Guard to enforce "laws", expelling Governors he doesn't like.

2/4
He's demanding Congress give a Trump 2 sweeping emergency powers to let him, personally, decide who is prosecuted, who faces jailtime, how quickly trials happen, and who is given death penalties.
