According to @Newsweek, the "road to the raid" on a former President's home began with NARA and National Archivist David Ferriero.

I have some experience dealing with him.🧵

2. He sidelined NARA's independent watchdog on paid admin leave for 2 years, a needless waste of taxpayer money that also ensured less oversight of his agency at the time.

3. Here is Mr. Ferriero's letter to @ChuckGrassley from September 2015 responding to Qs about what he did (or didn't do) about Hillary Clinton's secret, offsite email server.

4. Mr. Ferriero did *not* take a muscular approach to retrieving those federal records, "deferring to the State Department review" instead.

5. And under Mr. Ferriero, NARA had never conducted an inspection of the State Department's records system because it did not "warrant an inspection." Image

Democrats Divided on Trump-era Scandals

Americans should unite to demand better oversight that focuses on important issues with broad support rather than partisan gotcha games.

Congress rarely gets a sympathetic ear from the judicial branch when asking to use the court’s authority rather than its own Constitutional tools to get information.
That’s especially true if the subpoenas in question were issued on a partisan basis and the partisans involved admit to CNN that their oversight is actually a political fishing expedition for presidential election purposes.

The only person I've seen defending the IG is her high-priced lawyer, Trump's former interim WH Counsel.
The facts have been investigated extensively. bit.ly/substack-jsnfo…

The only question for the WH and Congress is: “Are you okay with this behavior from from an inspector general?”

Thus far, inaction from the WH and silence from most in Congress suggests the answer is “yes.”
Just a few articles reporting on @ChuckGrassley and @SenRonJohnson calling for action. That's it.

Crickets from virtually everyone else.

That's a shame and a disservice to the whistleblowers.
