THIS SUCKS: Regardless of your position on sex-ed classes for children(young as 9 years old) being held at Wink Wink in Bellingham starting today, local biz should not be targeted like this. Btw classes are happening w/parents consent. Free will choice. #Bellingham
COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS: Last month I BROKE story about homeless encampment on N.96th St spiraling out of control in Licton Springs/Greenwood neighborhood in #Seattle. Instead of "eco-blocks" look at community garden NOW WORKING as deterrent against tents! @MayorofSeattle@seattledot
PURELY DRIVEN BY NEIGHBORS: They are now raising money to sustain this project! Many are immigrants from Asia and Africa, sacrificing so much to buy homes in #Seattle. They say they are now on THEIR OWN, and will have fight to protect their community.
PLANTING SEEDS: Neighbors say they will need to raise closer to $5k to sustain this project and will be turning to Deputy Mayor Tiffany Washington to help with this community project. This could turn into a viable solution vs. controversial "eco-blocks."
BELLTOWN'S GREATEST HITS: No idea why rest of #Seattle media is not picking up on what's happening to biz owners like @RohanJoseph12. He's posting ALL his encounters with DRUGGIES on social media. City is ignoring pleas for help. So he's forced to shoo addicts away on his own.
THIS HAPPENED EARLIER TODAY: @RohanJoseph12 runs Elliot Bay Community Fitness on 2200 block of 3rd Ave. He says even #Seattle’s EMT’s are telling tourists to avoid certain parts of Belltown in Seattle. Wild. @MayorofSeattle@SeattleCouncil
NO END IN SIGHT: Depending on who you ask, mental illness and drugs are fueling Seattle’s homeless crisis. #Seattle
SEATTLE RV SHUFFLE CONTINUES: I first told you about Ballard's "Double Decker" RV last year+how neighbors complained about loud noise/music coming from this vehicle. After @seattledot enforcement, owner moved on…but just around the corner.#Seattle@MayorofSeattle@CMDanStrauss
CITY OF BLOCKS: Even after @seattledot does RV encampment removal, I personally witnessed dozens of RV owners simply move down street. So is this the strategy? Tire everyone out w/sweeps, hoping they don't return? Until that gets figured out, eco block biz is THRIVING. #Seattle
BUSINESS IS BOOMING: Concrete "eco-blocks" cost $20-$30 bucks a piece. It's cheap cause these are considered "scrap." But here's the catch, you have to transport these things yourself. Salmon Bay Sand & Gravel ain't the only game in town. But being in Ballard they are the go to.
THIS HAPPENED: Lady spotted me yesterday in SODO and accused me of spreading lies. I'm INFAMOUS! Then we started talking about homeless being moved around #Seattle. In heat of moment, she invited them to her BACKYARD. Sorry Georgetown.🤣 And she was clueless about @CMAndrewJLewis
REFERING TO THIS: Danny Westneat reported inconvenient truth about crime and many encampments. I know homeless are not all criminals. But stats show these situations attract issues. Lady who tried to call me out did not realize FACTS matter. LOL. #Seattle seattletimes.com/seattle-news/m…
"More than 18% of all shots-fired incidents in Seattle last year were associated with homelessness, according to police records. This means that “the victim, or suspect, are experiencing homelessness, or the [shooting] occurred at/near a homeless encampment or RV,” police said."
SPEECHLESS: @mattteamjesus is a Seattle street preacher regularly targeted by people who oppose his Bible reading at public events. I spent hours following him today at #TacomaPride. He had 3 Bibles trashed, 2 signs stolen, and only 1 person standing up for him. This is America.
ALLOWED TO STAY: Police did not interfere w/ @mattteamjesus and other street preachers at #TacomaPride. A Spanish speaking church was also present. Officers were well aware of 1st Amendment rights to express religious beliefs on public property, even with hostile crowd. #Tacoma
NEW VIDEO: Seattle street preacher @mattteamjesus is preparing to sue @SeattlePD for what he calls a violation of his 1st Amendment rights. We are getting a clearer picture of of his arrest during last month’s abortion rights rally. Commentary and vid courtesy:The Rayanne Show
TWO ARRESTS: @mattteamjesus says he was arrested two times as he tried to read the Bible during an abortion rights rally and Seattle Pride parade. @SeattlePD referred one of the obstruction arrest cases to @SeaCityAttorney@_Ann_Davison_ but her office did not file charges.
