📣 🎉 OK, I was busy teaching my son basic HTML (which was fun! I was a website developer for over a decade but had gotten rusty with basic HTML tags!) and somehow missed the actual vote...but IT'S DONE!

#InflationReducation Act PASSES 220 - 207...EVERY DEMOCRAT VOTED YES!
🎉🎉🎉THIS IS A BIG. F*CKING. DEAL!!

EVERY Democrat (and ONLY Democrats) just passed the most important climate change bill in history & the most important healthcare reform bill since the #ACA!

THANK THEM by helping them keep the #HouseBlueIn22!!!

☑️ 13 MILLION Americans WON'T see their healthcare premiums skyrocket by >$800/yr apiece starting in January!
☑️ 5% coinsurance for catastrophic healthcare coverage eliminated in Medicare Part D starting 2024!
☑️ $2K cap on Part D out of pocket spending starting in 2025!
☑️ Limits annual increases in Part D premiums starting 2024
☑️ Allows fed. gov't to negotiate prices for (some) prescription drugs under Medicare
☑️ Expands Part D low-income subsidy full benefit eligibility
☑️ Eliminates cost sharing for vaccines for adults under Part D
☑️ And, yes, $35 co-pay cap on insulin (for Medicare enrollees only for now).

And that's just the healthcare provisions!

No, it's not nearly as much as we were hoping for a year ago. Yes, it's a hell of a lot more than we were expecting a month ago.

THIS IS STILL A BIG DEAL!
📣 Oh yeah! Several states have their own state-based supplemental #ACA subsidies on top of the federal help; if the ARP subsidies had expired, these would've had to try & mitigate the loss...instead they can be used to further help enrollees!
Anyway, use the links here to donate DIRECTLY to AS MANY DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES IN SWING RACES AS POSSIBLE (and even a few long shots if you wish). Help make #AmericaBlueIn22 today! AmericaBlueIn22.com

“Oh, no! Two women love me! They’re both gorgeous and sexy! My wallet’s too small for my fifties and my diamond shoes are too tight!” —Chandler Bing
As an aside, according to Walmart.com:
--Broccoli: $1.40/crown
--Asparagus: $2.98/bunch
--Carrots: $1.96/2 lb bag
--Guacamole: $3.14/8 oz
--Salsa: $3.48/16 oz
= $12.96 total ImageImageImageImage
Obviously prices vary by brand, size, location etc (I had to guess on the size of some of these) but Wal-Mart is about as "Heartland of MAGA America" as you can get.

⚠️ Someone just asked how I know which of the hundreds of state legislative Dem candidates I’m raising $ for will spend donations wisely vs pissing it away.

My honest answer is: I don’t. 1/
I just narrow the field to a manageable level. There’s over 7,200 state legislative districts; of those only around 1,200 are competitive, at least by the data. 2/
Of those 1,200, some don’t even have a Democratic candidate and some candidates don’t have an @actblue account, meaning I can’t include them on my slate fundraising pages. 3/

📣 You may know that Dems (& *only* Dems) passing the #IRA means ~13M ACA enrollees *won't* see an avg. $800+ spike in their healthcare premiums.

What you may not realize is that for 1.5M of them, that hike would've actually been more like $3,800 on avg!
acasignups.net/22/08/09/updat…
Under the pre-ARP/IRA subsidy formula, ACA enrollees earning more than 4x the poverty level weren't eligible for *any* financial help. This means if the ARP subsidies had expired, ~1.5M enrollees would've lost $3,277/yr in subsidies apiece. 2/
However, that was based on *2022* premiums. In 2023, individual market premiums are expected to go up an additional ~8.3% on avg. across 35 states.

That means these same 1.5M would have had to pay *another* ~$572/yr w/out the #IRA on top of that $3,277.

📣🎉 The past week had a LOT of great news, but this one may have fallen through the cracks: CMS tells Georgia tough patooties; they still aren't allowed to kill HC.gov in 2023 acasignups.net/22/08/09/updat…
Tl;dr version: Several years ago, Georgia Gov. Kemp tried shoving through a waiver which would have let the state scrap HC.gov entirely in the state. I don’t mean moving to their own ACA exchange; I mean eliminating ANY ACA exchange. 1/
The waiver was approved by the Trump administration, of course, & would have kicked in starting this fall. Fortunately the Biden Administration put a stop to this insanity & Georgia will remain on the federal ACA exchange for at least another year. 2/

I joke about the parliamentarian's "unelected authority" like others, but the truth is that she's doing the job assigned to her *by the Senate*.

It's like trying to lose weight by hiring someone to tell you what you can eat, then getting mad when they won't let you eat donuts.
If you want to eat donuts, don't hire someone whose job description is literally to make sure you only eat healthy foods...or at the very least, don't get mad at them for doing exactly what you hired her to do.
Last year during the Am. Rescue Plan vote, a lot of $15MW advocates were demanding that Dems either fire the parliamentarian or that VP Harris override/ignore her.

One problem w/this logic is that Manchin/Sinema weren't onboard w/$15MW in the first place anyway.

Name a near-perfect film. Difficulty level: No Shawshank.

I’ll start: Nobody’s Fool w/Paul Newman
Here’s one you might not be familiar with: IceMan with Timothy Hutton and John Lone. Probably not “perfect by most standards; I’m biased because it’s the last movie my dad and I watched together before he passed away. Great film, though.
Here’s a little-known cat & mouse thriller: The Silent Partner with Elliott Gould & Christopher Plummer. Shot in Canada. Very suspenseful. Warning: Includes some shocking violence which sort of pops up out of nowhere, but a great film regardless.
