Title : Remember that Night?
🧡K : Remember That Night?

Izuku stared at the notification on his screen, the light illuminating his face. Those three words held so much power, they had to be the most devastatingly beautiful words as the memories flooded in. Along with every emotion tied to them
The love. The happiness. The joy.

The pain. The hurt. The irrevocable heartbreak.
Sometimes love wasn’t meant to bloom in certain situations. Between certain people. Kacchan had been Izuku's world. Not in that infatuation, soppy teenager ‘I love you more’ kind of way.

No.

His love for Katsuki was so deeply rooted into who he was,
that there was no one without the other. There was no breathing when the blonde wasn't near. There was no Izuku. And though it has been years of trying, of moving on in the only way he could, those three words ripped right through any progress he made
They were inseparable. If the red strings of fate were true, Katsuki would be his soul mate in this life and the next. They were so woven together you couldn’t tell where one started and the other ended.

That was how insync they were.
But, as great as their love was, it was just as toxic. It didn’t just rip into them when they fought, stripping away essences of who they were. No, it took. And took. And took until neither had anything left to give.

Nights were lonely, hearts were hurt,
and the tears were endless in those times.

And now, when all was said and done and neither had heard or spoken to each other, the roots of what once was began to grow. Because of those 3 damn words.
//It was 2:30 in the morning, and though Izuku hadn’t seen Kacchan in three weeks, it was like he’d never left.

Running down the steps of their apartment and into the pouring rain, he jumped into Katsuki’s arms, lips colliding in a desperate attempt to erase the time that had
passed. To speak words that never came out.

They were soaked by the time the blonde pulled away, breathing heavily over Izuku lips as he pressed his forehead against the greenettes.

“Fuck Zu, I missed you,” he breathed, white mist echoing his words in the cold rain.
“I know Kacchan,” Izuku sighed against his lips.

“C’mon, let’s get outta here.”

Pulling him by the hand, the two ran to Katsuki’s car. They drove to one of their favorite parks as kids, heading straight for the playground.
They were two fully grown adults playing on the swings, going in circles on the roundabout, pushing up and down on the see-saw. But they didn’t care. It was who they were, and no amount of time would take away these special moments where they could be childlike again.
It was magical and Izuku was the happiest he had ever been. Seeing Kacchans face lit up with a smile that rivaled any sun. They were soaked, and cold, but it didn’t matter.

Time stopped when green met red, and a heat so intense built in the depths of his stomach.
This time it was Izuku pulling Katsuki to the car, with an urgency both boys felt. Katsuki dropped into the back seat pulling Izuku onto his lap.

Clothes were ripped off, and they made love until the sun came up. Katsuki wrapped Izuku in a spare blanket he had while they drove
home, the heater on full as goosebumps and shivers racked their bodies.

Izuku woke up in his bed, but Katsuki wasn’t there. Instead, left on his pillow where the blonde should have been was a note.

‘Goodbye, Zu.
I’ll always love you.’
Izuku ripped the sheets off his body and ran to the window as he watched the blonde stop and look back at him over his shoulder for the last time, before climbing in his car and driving.

Izuku ran with everything in him, chasing the car. Chasing his heart. The reason he lived.
But it was too late.

The blonde was gone, and the sun had set.//
All Izuku did was lay in bed and cry. He couldn’t move beyond that. Couldn’t function. Couldn’t breathe. Everything that had Katsuki’s presence was gone. His socials deleted. Number blocked. It was as if the blonde never existed. And that hurt more.

After the first month,
he got up, went out and forced the air into his lungs.

The second month, he felt okay. He could move through life, albeit at an agonizingly slow pace. He found the pitying stares from his friends deadening, suffocating. So he left.
The third month held little thought of Katsuki. Of blonde hair and intense red eyes. Of late nights in the sheets, early mornings in each other's arms. Of hot days in the sun and cold days drinking hot chocolate wrapped in blankets.
Months four and five Izuku had locked Kacchan in a box, and buried him deep, deep down. The blonde was his first love, first kiss, first everything. And nothing would take that away. Nothing, not even another love, could replace that.
So Izuku decided to bury all that was Katsuki in his life away, and move on. Was he the same Izuku? No, and it didn’t matter. Because Izuku was so entwined with Katsuki that he let who he was go.

When months turned into a year, and a year into five, Izuku had found himself
another love.

It was expected, and simple, filled with everyday domesticity. Coffees before work, cooked dinners at night. Filled with ‘Honey I’m home’ and ‘I’m off to work’.

It was routine and Izuku came to enjoy it. Enjoy the stability. To be okay with consistency.

He peered over his shoulder to see his boyfriends back facing him, a soft snore filling the room. He slipped the blanket from his body, grabbing a hoodie and a pair of jeans as quietly as he could. Taking a look around the room, Izuku realized there was no life here. No home.
Stark white walls with photos that held no warmth, no real happiness stared back at him.

With his red sneakers on, the only thing he couldn’t part with, he left.
It was pouring outside, the rain coming down heavily soaking everything in its way.

Izuku's curls were flat against his, the hoodie he wore doing nothing to protect him. His body shivered once more as he looked up at the very familiar park.
There, in the distance, Izuku could make out the silhouette of someone sitting, feet firmly on the ground, hands gripping chains, the rain pouring down a black leather jacket.

He steps towards the man, gravel crunching under his sneakers. The blonde's head whips up in his
direction, hair flat against his forehead, red eyes blazing, searching.

He stands and walks, jogs, then runs headlong to the greenette. He collides into Izuku’s still form, hands grasping at his sides and pulling him in.

Katsuki’s lips met Izuku’s,
and it’s as if in that moment, the world explodes with color. The years of pain, torment, of not knowing, of words not said, of regret came flooding in.

The kiss was hard, pleading, desperate, and the more Katsuki’s lips moved, the more Izuku gave himself over to him.
Letting the walls that guarded the box that was Kacchan fall down and burst open.

He held Katsuki’s face in his hands as they kissed, desperately holding onto the hope that this wasn’t a dream. It almost seemed the way that Katsuki fisted his hoodie, pulling him desperately into
his own body, he felt the same.

Izuku had hoped for a moment, a time like this when Kacchan would return to him. And here it was. The years that were lost to them seemed to melt away as the pain that bloomed in his chest from that night many years ago, began growing into
something more.

He pulled away, panting as the cold air drove deeper into their bones.

He slipped his fingers into the gaps of Katsuki’s and began pulling him towards the car. Katsuki dropped into the back seat pulling Izuku onto his lap.
Both Izuku and Katsuki panted, chests rising and falling rapidly, in anticipation of the years lost to them. Like that night, they made love. However, this time it was slower, it was languid as tears rolled down already wet faces.
As lips savored the skin they tasted.

As hands remembered the feeling of the other under their skin.

As two bodies moved as one.
Sweet whispers of ‘Kacchan’ and ‘Deku’ filled the quiet space around them. The drumming of the pouring rain drowning out the rest of the world.

And when the sun rose, and Izuku opened his eyes, he felt the heaviness of a weight over his body. A weight that freed him from years
of suffocation, of loss and heartbreak.

It was a weight he wanted to carry with him forever.

He felt the weight shift, now lifting and pulling him deeper into warmth. Izuku wrapped his arms over a solid chest filled with scars and the damage the years of war brought.
Soft lips pressed against his temple, settling the noise in his mind.

“Fuck Zu, I missed you,” he breathed, the warmth of his breath settling into his bones.

“I know Kacchan,” Izuku sighed , pressing his lips against the love that he’d once lost.

A love that, maybe wasn’t
ready to bloom at that time, now flourished and grew and spread like wildfire.

It was a love that consumed both souls, burning and melting them into one being.

It was a love that would last the ages. One that red string fate had destined for decades. Centuries and millennia
to come.

It was a love, that, as Katsuki’s heart had stopped beating, he heard those three words ring clearly.

‘Remember that night?’
A fire burned deep in the depths of his soul, his lover calling his name, willing him back. It raged and consumed him, setting his chest ablaze as air started pouring in. And as red eyes shot open, they saw green.

A forest. Their forest. Lusher and fuller than any known to man.
The green so bright, it sparked across his vision.

His heart beat rapidly, filled with life as red met green.

And there, that day, their love walked away from death.
Because there was not one without the other. There was no beginning and end to their love.
There was no Izuku, without Kacchan.
