There's a lot of chatter surrounding #Interoperability and #crosschain but why is going cross-chain important? Is it interoperability that projects should strive for?
When we think sustainability for #WEB3 games, we think of mass adoption. More users mean more transactions.
Scalability
What happens if a network gets congested and transaction fees are no longer reasonable? Every chain for themselves, and may the best L1 prevail. Every chain has its own chain maxis and #Bridging can be cumbersome, risky, and time-consuming.
Accessibility
Interoperability would bring a game to them and make it accessible. By not limiting to one chain, we would minimize the barrier to entry, eventually to that of the user's own willingness to participate.
Blockchain liquidity
When a game launches on a #blockchain, eventually, the number of users that are willing to interact with the game will reach parity, which means the rate at which new liquidity gets captured slows down. Cross-chain allows ecosystems to capture some of the new chain's liquidity.
Value Retention
One issue plaguing the #P2E space is keeping value within the game.
Cross Chain enables deeper economy models that can drive value back to the token. As the game and ecosystem grow, projects can incentivize users to stake on one chain and earn assets on another
Ownership
An argument can be made against cross-chain. For instance, bridging protocols that allow cross-chain functionality surrender the user's ownership to the protocol, leaving users exposed to potential compromise.
Projects such as @SuperpowerLive which allow users to perform cross-chain functionality while maintaining ownership during the process could be a potential solution. SuperPower utilizes the @wormholecrypto messaging protocol through their product #Tesseract.
A novel tech that is bringing interoperability to its forefront, as assets such as NFTs can now interact with gaming protocols on different chains and separate ecosystems. As the space matures, great projects will continue to innovate and build solutions.
