It’s a new Monday, so time for a new entry into the #BatmanvSuperman references the DC lore series. Today, it’s time for the scene Dawn of Justice introducing many Justice League characters in the 🧵 below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse #BvSMondayMood Image
Right off the bat we have Diana Prince folding some clothes and in her bed we see Action Comics #1 (Superman’s first appearance), Detective Comics #27 (Batman’s first appearance) and #31, and Sensation Comics #1 (Wonder Woman first cover appearance). ImageImageImageImage
Then we get Diana scrolling over the news with some interesting headlines. Among them mentions to Stryker’s Island which is first mentioned in Superman Vol.2 #9 in 1987 as an island with a penitentiary in it (curiously same issue Ralli’s diner appears). ImageImageImageImage
We also see mentions to Belle Reeve which appears in Suicide Squad movie (#ReleaseTheAyerCut) and is a prison facility throughout the DC lore with a first appearance in Suicide Squad #1 (1987). ImageImage
Then she receives Bruce’s e-mail showcasing her Wonder Woman picture in the first World War together with clips and first official appearances in the DCEU of Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg. ImageImage
I very much like the detail of the comics in the bed showcasing the trinity’s first appearance in comics and in the same scene we get the first appearance of these three other DC icons. ImageImageImage
This parallel collapses interestingly in the Cyborg scene where we are both introduced to Cyborg and Silas Stones mentions object 61982 where June 1982 is when Tales of the New Titans #1 was first released and tells Cyborg’s origin story in the comics. ImageImageImageImage
There is more to the Cyborg clip in terms of references. It takes place in STAR labs and thus gives us another reference to a classical location in the DC world, with a first appearance in Superman #246 in 1971. ImageImageImage
It also displays a Motherbox that is apparently fusing with Victor’s body to create Cyborg. This is very much like his origin in the New 52 Justice League comics (issues #3-4). This plays massively into #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague, so I'll hopefully cover in detail this one day 😂 ImageImageImageImage
Classical DC locations references, vintage comics, and the introduction to Justice Leage members. Love all the references in this scene. Also, because it preludes the “greatest gladiator match in the history of the world” and that means we have a thread full of homages next week!
So that’s a wrap for today’s thread. Remember if you like this thread or any previous ones, consider donating to the @afspnational Autumn Snyder Fund. Every small amount counts to raise awareness for this cause! supporting.afsp.org/index.cfm?fuse…

I rewatched #BatmanvSuperman almost a month ago now and I’ve been tweeting sporadically about what caught my eye this time. Wanted to compile everything in a 🧵 that you can check out below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse ImageImageImageImage

It’s a new Monday, so time for a new entry into the #BatmanvSuperman references the DC lore series. Today, it’s time for Part 2 of the last scene of the movie Amazing Grace in the 🧵 below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse #BvSMondayMood Image
Part 1 was all about different DC references out there. And today it’s all going to be about the references (and differences) from the Funeral for a Friend storyline. So much to dissect so this one (my last one) is going to be a long one 😅, so let's get to it! Image
First off, there are several homages in the Metropolis funeral in #BvS to Funeral for a Friend. ImageImageImageImage

This scene has many references. Several of them to the storyline in Funeral for a Friend. And then several others to different pieces of DC media/comics. So today, I’ll cover these latter types of references and next week I’ll close out with the Funeral for a Friend ones.
So, let’s start with these peppered DC references. First, we can see similarities in Superman’s funeral to the Comedian funeral in Watchmen. This is not too surprising since Zack Snyder was behind the camera in both. ImageImage

This scene (and the next ones, ups spoilers) homage several parts of the continuation to The Death of Superman storyline in comics which was called Funeral for a Friend, an 8 issue storyline across different comics. Image
However, the first reference in this scene is not to this storyline, but to All Star Superman #5 with Lex in prison with the orange suit and a classical look after being shaved. ImageImage

Not surprisingly, there are homages to the The Death of Superman storyline and specifically to Superman #75 which is the final comic in this run. And what a better time to do this thread as we get closer to celebrating the 30th anniversary of this classical moment in comics! ImageImage
So, we start with Clark saying to Lois how much he loves her before his final fight with Doomsday. ImageImage

Several classical homages here to comics. Let’s start from one that was part of last week’s thread with Superman lying in space at the beginning of the scene and how it looks like Injustice: Gods Among Us #33. ImageImage
Then we get Batman saved by Wonder Woman as it is common in the Snyderverse. She has a very classical pose from the comics. And there might be several references in here. I really like how it looks like from Trinity #6 (which actually took place after #BvS). ImageImage
