I feel like Heroku is going to lose a significant portion of its income due to the proposed changes for its free tire. Pretty sure they have calculated the lost revenue to be offset by the loss leader product (free dyno).
Still, there are many developers who use Heroku Free Dyno as part of their testing and then deploy to an actual Paid account once they're satisfied with the deployment. Additionally, sometimes we deploy a testing or demo environment on Heroku Free Dyno so we can showcase an
application to a customer very quickly.
All those nifty features are going away and developers will have to either move to another free tire service to test smaller things or will have to move to Self-Hosting/Cloud offerings from other providers.
This might not end well for Heroku if they haven't already calculated their loss to savings ratio. (Which again, I'm pretty sure they've done already)
But Heroku will probably lose a significant portion o upcoming/learning developers since there's a paid entry to their platform.
Heroku has mentioned that they are working to offer a new solution for the students and such, but those things won't be available to upcoming markets such as Sri Lanka too.
