Who is Soma in the Vedas?

The name Sōma is used for 2 prominent deities in Vedas depending on the sentence.

Sōma Rājā is the Lord of the Bliss. He gives Bliss to the Ṛṣis, heals them both physically and mentally, provides immortality. In the Vēdas Sōma is not Chandra (moon). Chandra does share the same name but he is not the Sōma mentioned in the Vēdas.

Rājā Sōma is also associated with Rudra in spiritual healing and bliss (RV 6.74). Sōma as Chandra is only used in certain Upaniṣads and the Navagrah Sūktam.

Why is is that rakshas worship Shiva?

The same reason why Gods worship Him… to receive His blessings be it Material ( As Kubera), Weapons and Power ( Vishnu ), Indra to avoid His Wrath….this is what the Smritis say. Or Spiritual As Brahma, and all the Gods.

A Practical example:

Twin boys were born on 12–11–1976.

First child was born at 11. 43 am at 14 degrees of makara lagna, shani at 23 degrees of kataka.

Second child was born at 12–00 noon, 19 degrees of makara was rising. Shani was at same degree & minute.
