Verkhovna Rada deputies applaud after the adoption of the law against the anti-corruption bureau. Regardless of whether Zelenskyy signs this law or not. Today, a law was adopted with which the legislative power simply spits and laughs in the face of Ukrainians during a war, when many of them are giving their lives ... and for which 263 deputies voted

NABU has never been an ideal body. To put it mildly. The number of guilty verdicts in their cases against high-ranking corrupt officials is extremely small. NABU has referred more than 1,000 cases to court. Only less than 50 people received real terms. BUT. You can have different attitudes to their work. Criticize them. Reforms - yes. Improving work - yes. Searching for agents of the Russian Federation in their ranks - yes, fighting moles within the agency - yes. But adopting a bill to limit the independence of the NABU and the SAPO is NOT the NORM.. These are the kinds of laws that undermine the trust of both Ukrainian citizens and international partners. War does not justify such actions. We should not build authoritarianism in our country, where all branches of power and bodies are controlled by one person or a group of people.

The same applies to guilty verdicts. Here, too, NABU is not always to blame, because guilty verdicts also depend on the judicial system. Even if NABU works honestly, this does not guarantee imprisonment: the judicial system is weakly independent, cases fall apart in the courts or are blocked from above. Therefore, the solution is not in blocking or subordinating anti-corruption bodies, but in working on their reform and improvement, and first of all - in improving the work of INDEPENDENT COURTS. We need a free Ukraine, where the law and order work, and not russia 2.0.

I am not idealizing NABU, and this is not even an attempt to protect it. There are many problems there. But such laws are definitely not a solution. They only make the situation worse.

1. Loss of independence, the law effectively eliminates the autonomy of NABU from any anti-corruption structures - the Prosecutor General, who is appointed by the President, acquires the ability to redistribute cases, control investigations, and appoint prosecutors to NABU and SAPO . This leads to the consolidation of power in the hands of the executive branch.

2. Concentration of executive power in one subject.

The Constitutional Court (CSU) in 2019–2021 repeatedly indicated that due to the indirect subordination of NABU to the President (through the authority to appoint/dismiss the director), the principle of separation of powers is violated and a parallel executive branch is created - “parallel power”, which contradicts the Constitution and threatens democratic guarantees.

3. Complicating the investigation of top corruption.
As noted, the Prosecutor General is able to change the direction of cases, withdraw the investigation or appoint other prosecutors - even if NABU detectives at the investigation stage have uncovered corruption schemes involving government officials. This can lead to blocking or reducing the effectiveness of investigations.

4. Deterioration of the international image and the risk of loss of funding.

International partners, including representatives of the EU and the G7, have expressed concern. They considered the independence of anti-corruption bodies to be a key criterion for further support and advancement of Ukraine towards the EU. The changes create a risk of loss of trust and funding .

Law No. 12414 effectively nullifies the independence of NABU, transferring control to the Prosecutor General appointed by the President.
This violates the constitutional balance of power and poses a threat to the rights and freedoms of citizens. There is a serious risk that top corruption cases will be interrupted or transferred in an undesirable direction. Ukraine may lose support and funding from Western partners due to violation of anti-corruption guarantees.
And yes, those people who will write to me about corruption in NABU itself. Or that they found traitors there who worked for the Russian Federation. I do not deny that such cases can happen in this bureau as well. I do not deny that there cannot be traitors in this structure. But traitors are everywhere and always... in any country and at all times. Both in Ukraine and in other countries. For example, there were no fewer traitors in the SBU than in NABU.
Moreover, among senior officials and officers... In Crimea and other occupied regions and cities, the SBU and police often went over to the enemy in whole groups... and such cases can happen and have happened, unfortunately, in any branch of government or department. But we do not disband the SBU or other departments based on this logic, where there were traitors and corrupt officials, and we do not subordinate them to other departments, do we?

Because there are also many honest, decent people there... who really serve Ukraine and the people.

Therefore, fighting the anti-corruption bureau is not a solution. This requires investigations... reforms... improving their work. Yes, this investigation bureau is not ideal... yes, it needs to be improved. But not with such a law.
I wrote this post a couple of days ago. It seems I was right about its relevance.

Mariupol and Bakhmut... before and after the Russian invasion.

These two cities are just one of many examples of cities that were completely or partially destroyed by Russian terrorists and occupiers.

There are many more cities on this list, such as Soledar, Marinka, Vovchansk, Vuhledar, Sievierodonetsk, Rubizhne, Popasna, Kreminna, Lyman, Volnovakha, Izium, Kupiansk…etc.

This list also includes hundreds of destroyed villages... as well as many cities that, although not completely destroyed, suffered greatly, such as Irpin, Bucha, and many of them continue to be under constant attacks by russian terrorists to this day: Kharkiv (Saltivka), Sumy and other frontline cities and villages.

At the same time, the entire territory of Ukraine is subject to constant missile attacks, as well as attacks by Shahid drones, and there is practically not a single city in Ukraine that has not been attacked by the Russians.

Now show all these images of destroyed cities, thousands of deaths of civilians and our children to all those who justify the russians. Or to those who say that the Ukrainian strikes on russian military airfields are terror.

Destruction of the aggressor's aircraft, which have been killing Ukrainians daily for several years now, committing countless war crimes and aggression - IS THIS TERROR?

A world of vile, immoral and inhuman hypocrites, whose souls are blacker than soot.

And it is precisely in this hypocrisy that the root of global evil lies.
Those who remain silent about Mariupol and hundreds of other cities and towns, but are outraged by the military airfield where the planes that committed all this were destroyed, are not pacifists or adherents of peace, but accomplices of murder. Those who shout that they do not want a third world war, but have never called on Russia to stop bombing Ukrainian cities, choose the side of violence, not peace.

Ukraine did not start this war.
Ukraine defends its right to live.

And every Ukrainian strike on a missile depot, on an airfield from which murderers take off, on a command post of those who give orders to bomb peaceful cities - This is defense, this is the right to life.

While someone demands to “understand Russia”, Ukrainians bury their loved ones every day, for the sole reason that Russia started the war, and it can also end it.

An elderly woman, who was pulled out from under the rubble by rescuers and who spent two days under a concrete slab next to the body of her dead neighbor.
Will she be an “aggressor” if she says: “I want those who dropped this bomb on us to never take off again”?

A father, mother and their daughter, left without a home, without work, without school and heat - are they terrorists if they pray that the enemy airfield from which the missile took off no longer exists?

Is a paramedic who has stopped the bleeding of children wounded by shelling hundreds of times a war criminal if he says: “If we destroy the enemy positions, fewer children will die”?

A schoolgirl, who has studied in a basement for over a year, will she become a “radical” if she writes an essay: “I dream that killer drones will no longer fly over us”?

And at this moment, everyone who lives in warmth, safety and well-being, but condemns those who defend their right to life, loses the moral right to talk about humanity.

A Ukrainian who demands the destruction of a military airfield from which planes take off every day, killing his people, is not a terrorist. He is a man who does not want to die.
A mother who screams to the whole world: "Help us survive!" is not an instigator of conflict. She is the voice of those who survived hell.

So stop shifting responsibility.
Stop comparing defense with attack.
Stop devaluing other people's pain.

Peace begins with honesty.
With recognition: who is destroying and who is protecting.
And only then can we talk about peace - real, not imaginary.

Until the war comes to your home, it is very easy to talk about it from afar. It is very easy to overlook the thousands of deaths and destruction. It is very easy to talk about forgiveness, to be a moralist and a peacemaker, when Russian terrorists did not kill your loved ones, destroy your home and raze your city to the ground. When they didn't rape your wife or daughter or kill your children. When they weren't trying to take your freedom away. What they did to millions of Ukrainians. When your country is not subject to barbaric invasion, terror, genocide, it is very easy to sit in a warm chair and teach others how to live and what to do.

Every Ukrainian lost a relative or friend in this war. Tens of thousands of Ukrainians were killed by Russian fascists. Thousands of Russian missiles were fired at peaceful cities. Millions of shells. Violence, robbery, genocide. This is in case someone wants to teach Ukrainians how to fight and what to do!

So it's better to just shut your mouth!

And then to the ignoramuses who continue to spread nonsense.

1. First study the Geneva Convention and the rules of surrender, so as not to write nonsense. There was no capitulation here. If the Russian terrorist wanted to surrender, he would have done so long ago: Ukraine provides many options for official surrender and saving lives.

2. These terrorists came to kill Ukrainians, to Ukrainian land, to their home. This aggressor did not surrender before, he killed Ukrainians... and if this drone had not killed him, he would have continued to do so. If you do not want to fight, the rule is simple - go home. It was not the Ukrainians who came to his land, but he came to kill Ukrainians.

3. Why don't all these hypocrites who call this a war crime so actively post thousands of photos and videos of Russians executing Ukrainian prisoners of war who have already surrendered according to all the rules of the convention? Why don't you so actively expose thousands of Russian war crimes and Russian terror against the population of Ukraine. But you won't find thousands of testimonies of Russian war crimes on the pages of these hypocrites. And these are only the ones that are documented. And how many more have not been filmed or photographed. Maybe it's time to stop equating the victim with the aggressor? The Ukrainians did not attack Russia. If you feel so sorry for the "Russian boys", go and tell them to go home.

Do I like such videos? No. Do I feel sorry for the person in the video? In this situation, no. Because he is a murderer who came to kill others. I am a Christian, and for me, killing people has always been a tragedy. But this does not apply to the murder of those who themselves came to kill the innocent. Even Christ in the Gospel, when asked by soldiers what to do, said: "Do not offend anyone, do not slander, and be content with your pay." He did not forbid them to serve and defend their homeland. He did not forbid them to kill those who came with a sword. He only said not to offend the innocent. But he did not forbid killing those who brought evil and death and came with a sword themselves.

This is war. And I, like many others, would like there to be peace. For people to stop dying. For our children to have a future. But in order for such videos to not exist, the Russians just need to go home and stop killing us. And everything else is just an excuse for their countless crimes that they commit themselves, voluntarily. It is their choice. They invaded Ukraine, and it was not Ukraine that attacked but Russia. Experience the grief and suffering that we suffered at the hands of the Russians before you say anything and judge us. And if you were in our place, you would do the same... but these people are not in our place to judge.Image
As for surrendering to the “drone”. There is no such procedure. A kamikaze combat drone does not represent such procedures, even in terms of the technical component... If this drone had not destroyed this occupier, this terrorist and murderer would have continued to kill Ukrainians tomorrow. We will not risk our people in such situations by giving life to a murderer who tomorrow may kill the one who saved his life. There are many ways for the Russians to surrender to Ukraine before something like this happens to them. There are international rules for surrender, there are Ukrainian hotlines and messengers where you can call or write. In the end, there are many other ways to simply go to your Muhosransk and leave Ukrainian soil and stay alive. And it’s hypocritical to gesture when a shell is already flying at you - that’s not how it works. Russian terrorists are killing our soldiers with drones too... and showing them no mercy. So why should we feel sorry for our murderers and aggressors who kill our loved ones and want to destroy our country? We comply with the Geneva Convention... and treat prisoners of war more than humanely, and more well than they deserve. But we will not risk our personnel and let the orcs go, only because while killing the Ukrainians, at some point they realized that they themselves could be killed, and at the last moment they began to ask to let them go.

In addition, drone operators cannot even technically carry out such a surrender procedure without huge risks for themselves and our soldiers in the aftermath. Therefore, every occupier who sets foot on our land must be aware of this. If you don't want to die this way, don't come to Ukraine. But we will defend our land and our people in every possible way.
But even despite everything that these terrorists have done... our soldiers still treat Russian prisoners of war humanely... in contrast to the attitude of Russian fascists towards Ukrainian prisoners of war.

However, what am I talking about... russian fascists even abandon their wounded soldiers, simply leaving them to die...

A little about Witkoff statements...

"These territories are Russian-speaking, and referendums were held there, where the majority of people voted to be under Russian rule" - Witkoff.

Okay, if Mr. Witkoff believes that native speakers can choose which country to belong to, does that mean English-speaking Americans should be part of England? Well, they are native English speakers, right?

Or okay, if he means ethnicity.

But then it's even more complicated... because the population of the United States is 98-99 percent immigrants or descendants of immigrants. For example, 31 million people said they were ethnically Irish (that's about 9% of the country's population). So now, by Witkoff's logic, part of the United States should belong to Ireland? I'm not even talking about other ethnic groups... including over 1 million Ukrainians.

I repeat, I write exclusively as if I thought like this person, and reasoned about the United States the way he reasoned about Ukraine and Ukrainians, and about its territories.
I am in no way questioning the independence and territorial integrity of the United States. And I want my American friends to take this solely as an example of parallels to the words of this man.

2. According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the land of Ukraine is the property of the entire people. Ukraine is a unitary state. A separate region cannot decide its own destiny without a general referendum.

Russia held a referendum that violated all international norms. On foreign soil and country... At gunpoint and in the presence of masked terrorists. Without a full and adequate consideration of the people's opinion. Part of the population of these regions was then on the territory controlled by Ukraine and could not take part in any voting. Another large part of the population of these regions were "refugees" and could not vote, since they fled from these regions in the first days of the war. Therefore, this is a false show... But even that part of the Ukrainians who remained on the territory occupied by Russia did not take part in it 100%. The maximum number of people who took part in the voting for one reason or another does not even make up 30-20% of the total population of these regions. And those who did, were forced to vote at gunpoint... which is already an international violation, and cannot be considered a legitimate vote showing the voice of all the people living there.

Let us also remind you about the real legitimate referendum in Ukraine, which has already been held and where the residents of Ukraine already expressed their opinion.
On December 1, 1991, a decisive event took place for the formation of Ukrainian statehood - an all-Ukrainian referendum to confirm the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine.

More than 84% of voters took part in the referendum, more than 92% voted for independence.

🧵⬇️Image
Ukraine, including population
Donetsk and Luhansk regions, where almost 84% of voters voted for independence, including Crimea, which was then a region with a predominant Russian-speaking population..
In Crimea, independence was supported by more than 54% of voters, and in Sevastopol - by more than 57%. And this is in a region where Russia has been intentionally Russifying the population for years, deporting Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars from there and settling Russians.
I would like to remind you that throughout history Russia has always tried to Russify Ukraine and destroy its identity, culture and people. But even despite this, despite repressions, famines and genocides, occupation, Ukrainians fought for their independence and freedom. And on December 1, 1991, all of Ukraine voted overwhelmingly for Independent Ukraine.
The historical significance of the all-Ukrainian referendum on December 1, 1991 is that it actually marked the end of the existence of the USSR.Image
And now the question is, why didn't Russia hold a referendum when Chechnya wanted independence from Russia? But they started a war against them. So why doesn't it hold them at home?

And in other countries it organizes armed conflicts and wars in order to annex territories, and then holds its pseudo-referendums. Also a question to other countries, why don't you hold these referendums at yourselves!? Why does everyone interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine and tell us who should own what? Without knowing anything about Ukraine, our history and the real state of affairs. Why do you think that you have the right to decide the fate of millions and decide something for others. Why doesn't Ukraine tell anyone what should belong to whom.Image

The points of the Budapest Memorandum. In addition to what was supposed to guarantee the security and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

There is one more point (5). I would like to draw special attention to it. According to point 5, after Ukraine renounced its nuclear weapons, the guarantor countries did not have the right to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine, even if Ukraine itself was an aggressor and attacked one of these countries first. Exceptions are cases when Ukraine has nuclear weapons, or if it does so in alliance with a country that has such weapons.

In any other case, it is prohibited by all international rules. But what do we see from the terrorist country of Russia? That's right. After the act of aggression, invasion and attempted occupation of Ukraine by Russia. After Russia violated all international laws and after thousands of war crimes by Russians. They are also blackmailing the world with nuclear weapons at the same time.

How to distinguish nuclear war from nuclear terrorism?
Nuclear war is when both sides have nuclear weapons.
Nuclear terrorism. This is when a country renounces nuclear weapons in exchange for guarantees. And then this"guarantor"attacks with war and blackmails with this very weapon.

Now think about how the example of Ukraine will affect world security. When the country voluntarily renounced nuclear weapons and was attacked by one of the guarantor countries, to whom Ukraine gave these weapons. Now all countries that want a nuclear arsenal will do it?

At the same time, russia, as an aggressor country. Which violates all international rules. Which invades sovereign states. A country of international terrorism, including nuclear blackmail. Continues to occupy a place in intercity instances (UN, etc.)

Yes, we all understand that russian terrorists and war criminals violated the Budapest Memorandum long ago when they invaded Ukraine. Yes, we all understand that these are people without honor, morality and dignity, who do not care about morality and international rules. But any act against Ukraine using nuclear weapons will be an act of international nuclear terrorism. No matter what "false doctrines" the aggressor russia tries to justify it with. russia invaded Ukraine, not Ukraine invaded russia. And all military actions on the territory of russia are a consequence of its aggression against the sovereign state of Ukraine, which has every right to self-defense after an attack on it, including the destruction of military facilities and infrastructure on the territory of russia (the aggressor), which contribute to genocidal terror against Ukrainians.

Next time the russians will say: "Give me half of Europe or I will use a nuclear bomb." Or they will tell the US to give them Alaska or they will use nuclear weapons. So what? Concessions to terrorists only give them free rein for further terror and evil.

Since when do we bargain and negotiate with terrorists? Who don't give a damn about all international rules and morality.Image

When Russian fascists tell you that their "special military operation" is aimed at protecting the Russian-speaking population. Look at the eastern cities and regions of Ukraine, where before the war there was the largest russian-speaking population, and you will see with what particular cruelty they destroy these cities and the people living there: the cities of the Donetsk region, Kharkiv, Odesa, Lugansk and others.

All these statements of theirs about an attempt to protect russian-speaking people, who have never been oppressed there, it's just a lie that tries to justify its main goal - the destruction of Ukrainians and Ukraine, the occupation of Ukraine, genocide and terror. And they don't give a damn about russian-speaking Ukrainians, they hate all Ukrainians, regardless of what language they speak, their age, gender, religious beliefs and other things.

It all started with the occupation of Crimea by russian terrorists. Then, unfortunately, Ukraine made a mistake and decided to act diplomatically and did not give the order to our soldiers to open fire. Unfortunately, we all see what the attempt at "peaceful negotiations and solutions" with the occupiers led to. This only untied the hands of the aggressor and gave him a reason to act even more aggressively, feeling impunity and permissiveness, and the fighting and war moved to the East of Ukraine.

In this picture below, 2014. Then Ukraine almost liberated Donetsk and Lugansk regions from russian terrorists and their mercenaries.

But what would have happened if Ukraine had acted then the way the russians are acting in Ukraine now: wiping entire cities off the face of the earth, killing civilians. Then the war would have ended in 2014, and all these occupiers would have been completely destroyed.

But Ukraine did not want to do this with such casualties among the civilian population, destroying its own cities. And now we see who is actually destroying cities and killing civilians: look at what russia did to Ukrainian cities - Mariupol, Bakhmut and many others. And look at Donetsk and other cities that are controlled by russian terrorists, and you will see a huge difference in who was actually bombing Donbas all this time. In addition, there is a lot of evidence from local residents who have repeatedly said that Russian mercenaries periodically bombed the territories under their control specifically to create a picture for propaganda and accuse Ukraine of shelling.

Ukraine, even during the military actions in the East of Ukraine, tried to act in such a way as to prevent the death of civilians and the destruction of cities as much as possible.
Ukraine's attempts to resolve issues through negotiations, peace treaties, which russian terrorists have constantly violated and are violating, have only led to even greater war and aggression on their part.

Ukraine will not make such mistakes again. Ukraine wants peace. Ukrainians do not want to lose their loved ones and want to live peacefully and happily on their land. But not through a false peace, to allow russia to accumulate new forces for a new war and aggression. Before the appearance of russian occupiers on our land, we had peace. All people on the territory of Ukraine were alive. Ukraine never wanted war and did everything to prevent it. But russian fascists will not stop until they are stopped by force. The more you make concessions to the aggressor and terrorists, the more tragic and large-scale consequences await you, up to even greater wars.Image
