Some things we learned were: MPX passes through close physical contact, from infected objects, and large respiratory droplets. MPX can infect anyone, no one is more vulnerable than anyone else. (2/6)
Public health crises highlight and exacerbate already existing inequities regarding race, class, & sexual & gender orientation. From there, stigmas are borne. Schools play a critical role in dispelling these myths & stigmas. (3/6)
The Department of Health, the Department of Education and the UFT have no plan to deal with MPX should there be outbreaks in schools. As of 8/21 6 children below the age of 5 have been diagnosed with MPX. (4/6)
