She got grounded, freed, maybe-grounded again, and now very gingerly under tow southbound in the #SuezCanal.
Cause unclear. But I've narrated an animation of the initial incident.
4/ Followers know: I was wondering if I had to clear my schedule...
Fortunately, looks like #Suez Canal-blocking part of the #AFFINITYV grounding is over. Great!
Also, a favorite maritime blogger @mercoglianos is live-streaming this. Highly recommend.
5/ @mercoglianos' reminds viewers that AIS data is never perfect. Yes!
Some of what appeared pre-grounding be a deflection westward in the track may be an AIS artifact / reflect helm movement to compensate for wind / GPS error etc.
Shortly after though, it's pretty stark.
6/ I experimented with making a quick video, rather than doing a thread with all the bits.
It meant I was a bit slow to some of the developments as I tried narrating & editing myself in a giant boomy room.
Did folks find it helpful? Feedback welcome!
7/ Hat tip to the excellent @MarineTraffic app which has quickly become my go-to when trying to understand & show maritime incidents.
And to @mercoglianos who soldiered through a livestream despite what sounded like a murderous cold!

But the consumer #VPN industry wants you to believe that magic security & privacy things happen when your internet connection runs through their servers.
