Bhadrapada Sukla Dwadasi is reckoned as Dadhi Vamana Jayanti. Sri Vamana avatara took place on Dwadasi day in D constellation of #SRavana - Lord #Vishnu is star Deity of Sravana & presiding Deity for Dwadasi thithi.+

Apart from in #DasaAvathra we come across all the three names of VaAmana (#Thrivikrama, #Vamana and #Upendra) in #ChaturvimshatiKesavaadi #vYuHaruupas’of Lord #Vishnu with interchange in holding of Ayudhas; +

He was called #Vamana because he was dwarf in form at the beginning. While suppressing the pride & vanity of King Bali, He was called #Thrivikrama when He grew to a gigantic size & conquered the 3 worlds ( Earth, Upper worlds & Nether worlds) with just three paces of his foot.++

Born to Sage Kasyapa and Adithi, He was also referred as #Upendra the younger brother of #Indra. Upa also means 'above' indicating that He is much superior to Indra. He is the Supreme God #Vishnu the #HariSarvottama. ++

Sri #VishnuSahasraNamaSthothram describes #Vishnu as #Upendro #Vaamanah #Thrivikramah (sloka # 17 & 56) An exclusive Purana named after Lord Vaamana called Sri #VaamanaPurana scripted by Lord & Sage Sri #Vedavyaasa forms part of the 18 great Puranas called Ashtaadasa Puraanas.++

Lord Vishnu took this avathara in order to suppress the arrogance, vanity and pride of Emperor Bali (Bali Chakravarthi) and to restore the glory, power and authority of Lord Indra over the Heaven who had lost his power and kingdom (Swarga) to King Bali. ++

Uniqueness of this Avathara is, Lord did not use any weapon. Only weapon he used was that of imploring King Bali in accordance to the Brahmanic (Brahmachari) form he had attained. ++

Lord did not kill King Bali even though he was an Asura. He conquered him in a Vedic way with his intelligence. He had 2 resort 2 this strategy due 2 the promise/boon he had made 2 his beloved devotee #Prahlada not 2 kill any of his descendants. Bali was grandson of Prahlada. ++

VamanaAvathara message is #Saranagati (total surrender) 2 God however mighty one may be. When once U shed yr ego & surrender totally with devotion @ the feet of the Supreme God there is nothing 2 fear/worry about; one will get total protection. Bhagavantha is SARANAGATHA VATSALA+

This is what exactly happened in case of Bali who had no other choice but 2 surrender to #Thrivikrama who had conquered 3 worlds. When King Bali surrendered in front of Vamana with total devotion, Lord was very much pleased & gave him boons voluntarily without even being asked.++

By touch of Lord’s foot on the head of Bali all his sins got cleaned up, he became Chiranjeevi. Bhagavantha not only made him ruler of Nether world #Suthala but also assured He would always protect his kingdom. He also assured Bali that he would become Indra in next Manvanthara.+

Sri Vaamana Avathara was fifth in the line of Dasavatharas of Lord Vishnu. This avathara took place during Tretha Yuga before Sri Parashurama Avathara.
