So you've recently started your studies in Canada?
Congratulations! 🥳
We'd like to share five bits of advice from a recent graduate they wish they had known before starting school in Canada 😊
A THREAD ⬇️
1. You are bound to pull 1 or 2 all-nighters, but stay away from the energy drinks - instead, to keep yourself awake, drink cold water, eat fruit, and turn on a nice, bright light (preferably soft light, not fluorescent) 😊
2. Do not underestimate the importance of proper note-taking. It may not seem important one month into the semester but when it comes time for exams, and your notes are a mess, you’re going to wish you had shown a little more care in them 🤣
3. Study up on the most current APA and MLA writing guidelines. Most classes will require you to write your papers in either APA or MLA and being done incorrectly can result in marks being docked. Check out your school’s library website for a copy of the writing guidelines.
4. Participate in class, ask questions, and strive to finish all of your assignments. Remember that postsecondary education is challenging, and as long as you do your best, you will succeed.
5. Join study groups! It may feel awkward initially if you don't know your classmates well, but as the weeks pass, you will be better prepared for your exams and even make new friends🤗
