#WMATA has released its own timeline and after-action report of the July 30 cable fire event on the Red Line: wmata.com/about/board/me…
@STATter911
#WMATA does not know who asked for the Red Tag outage to physically rack out breakers in the area of the tunnel fire on 7/30?

"reportedly requested"
"after-action report" was maybe too weighty for my prior tweet; #WMATA uses the word "review" to describe it and it omits/leaves out findings and discrete failures/lessons learned from the fire.

#WMATA offloaded Red Line train 114 due to a propulsion issue. The train is now being "Proceeded" - that is, a lookout in the lead car is radioing back to someone further back in the train so the train can move - in order to get it back to a rail yard.

Delays, both directions.
The #WMATA ROCC appears to have found a clever way to route around the disabled train just outside Grosvenor. Inbound trains are traversing via the pocket track; outbound is unaffected.

#WMATA has posted its FY22 Q3 financial report, dated May 13, 2022. It was posted on July 29, 2022. This period covers January-March, 2022.
Among other derailment investigation cascading effects: #WMATA has overhauled fewer of its older 2000/3000-series railcars with new components because they're needed for service.
As of March 2022, 82 of 182 6000-series railcars were potentially available for service.

It's a Friday, and I've got some time.

What're y'all's #WMATA questions? Maybe I have some answers...
In its simplest form: Under some conditions/circumstances - which #WMATA, WMSC, and NTSB are still investigating - the wheels on some 7Ks were moving out from where they should be. Daily inspections are meant to catch that early if it happens again.

Not enough railcars:
* Most of the fleet are the 7000's (~60%). All but 8 of those trainsets are grounded b/c Oct 2021 derailment
* Not all ~180 6Ks (~15%) are back in service after two trains pulled apart in 2020

All 8's is #WMATA long-term plan

A #WMATA station manager reported a fire underneath an escalator at Cleveland Park at appx 11:38am.
#WMATA is holding all Red Line trains on either side of Cleveland Park due to the platform escalator fire reported by a station manager. The fire is now out. DCFEMS is responding.
SERVICE SUSPENSION:

#WMATA Red Line trains are turning around @ Van Ness & Dupont Circle due to an earlier escalator fire closing the Cleveland Park station.

Delays, both directions.

Dang, not the Stadium-Armory junction again. #WMATA
#WMATA ATC signal folks are on scene and have clamped the switches which the ROCC currently can't remotely set.
This issue began a bit before midnight last night. #WMATA
