A lil' #Ripple partner mystery:
1. Payment Rails (Montreal), an API-first approach, enabled developers "to seamlessly add international payments to their platform, website or apps, giving access to global markets."
But then, they disappeared.
paymentsjournal.com/payment-rails-…
2. In reality they just rebranded in 2021 as Trolley with "ambitions to drive payout-based growth..." and "progress in meeting the payout needs of a borderless, internet-based economy."

At the same time, they closed a $7m series A funding round.

3. Their P/R seems like a perfect place to use RippleNet:
"Trolley plans to leverage Pace Capital's investment to:
- Increase direct integrations w/ top ERP & accounting platforms
- Expand tax compliance beyond the US
- Add more local & instant payout options"
4. Not only that, but they have shifted their focus to creators, influencers, musicians, videogames and freelancers - areas where Ripple has promoted other partnerships (NFT platforms, Coil, Forte, goLance, etc.). Makes sense given their advisors-
5. But there has been no mention of Ripple or XRP since the name change, since 2017, really.
They list their payout networks in each region inc. SWIFT & PayPal, but not Ripple. But they also list "local bank payout" which is where it could be used.

6. Some questions:
- Does Trolley still use RippleNet? At least for messaging? There is no indication they ever stopped.
- Do they use ODL at all, given their presence in some of the corridors?
- Are there other connections to Ripple partners for Trolley?
Stay tuned, internet.

OT:"The Best Way to Predict the Future is to Issue a Press Release."

This article goes. so. hard.
-Gartner hype-cycle is meaningless
-tech acceleration is just marketing
-tech narrative becomes mythic natural law

ed-tech but bears on crypto, metaverse

I cannot recommend it enough! Someone rec'd it here a few months ago and I've since reread it every few weeks. She deftly pokes holes at the mythology of Silicon Valley progress presenting itself as natural and inevitable and not deliberate choice and financial interest.
Here is a review of her book, "Teaching Machines."
(it's very good, too, book & review).

There is a lot buzz about the #XRP valuation model this weekend. Why?

Short version: Blackrock is investing in Coinbase & the head of Blackrock's Digital Asset div. has been Robert Mitchnick, one of 2 authors of an $XRP model from 2017, so lots of buzz.

Long version? -a lil🧵
1. Blackrock announced a partnership with Coinbase for institutional advisors to gain BTC exposure. This is big money.

2. In 2019 Blackrock hired former Ripple Exec Robbie Mitchnick to lead its digital assets division.

There have been some intriguing events occurring with SBI & SBI Remit; #Ripple investor and ODL user, respectively. Here is a brief attempt to piece them together. Warning - I'm trying to find a narrative here, not propound one. 🧵/6
reuters.com/business/sbi-c…
1) First, recall that SBI Holdings is Japan's largest online brokerage & banking services co. They recently acquired Shinsei bank, a commercial bank w/ a stong lending business. SBI invests in smaller banks to expand customer base. Was high drama.

2) Next, remember on July 28th there was news the SBI VC Trade platform, which hosts SBI's ODL connection, was expanding to platform other orgs, such as AsianNet.

To piggyback off @X__Anderson 's ODL thread, @Tranglo has recently published a flowchart on their website that is very instructive about how they use ODL now (and therefore #XRP). 1/7
>>>Notice the licensee wallet is held by #Ripple<<<
tranglo.com/odl/ #Ripple #ODL #Tranglo #XRP #Wallet
2. Here's the steps, collated from the scrolling box. A customer makes their request to Tranglo and then pulls #XRP from their (licensee's) #Ripple held wallet and then exchanged via Tranglo's exchange account for fiat and into their Tranglo wallet. #ODL #XRP #Ripple #Tranglo
3. Note how significant it is the customer does not have to hold #XRP in this schema! There is no volatility risk as #Ripple holds the XRP and Tranglo pulls it to find fiat liquidity.

Yields, liquidity pools, liquidity tokens!- the XLS-30d discussion for an #XRPL Automated Market Maker (AMM) has enormous potential for the network. This is an attempt to understand what #Ripple's David Schwartz called the "secret sauce" of an XRPL AMM.
🧵 in 13 tweets.
1. First, a brief re-cap: Automated market makers (AMMs) allow digital assets to be traded without permission and without traditional orderbooks of buy & sell offers. Trading happens automatically using pools of available tokens called liquidity pools
gemini.com/cryptopedia/am…
2. Users supply liquidity pools with tokens held in pairs (like you would find in a traditional orderbook) and then represented by a liquidity pool token. By supplying the pool, you earn a small yield. On the #XRPL, this would involve XRP & issued tokens. (Anything on the DEX)

👀👀 "Government of Colombia launches the National Land Registry on the XRPL Blockchain - Peersyst" Thanks @CameronLongfie1 for pointing this out! I suspect we'll hear more soon. Not only a fascinating use, there is some juicy stuff at the end :) 🧵/4
1. Earlier this month, @Peersyst tweeted about their notary solution using the XRPL. Didn't know this was in store!
