My biggest Air and Light Panel, or AL Panel, in the style of CR Box natch. A mere 1.9” thick! 9 white RGB fans taped to a filtrete 14x14x1 merv 13. Fans are rated 495cfm on max, CADR unknown. No floorspace nec; hang it on the wall, tilted enough for good airflow. #ALPanel#CRBox
Now I’m sucking through the filter, but these fans we part of my previous CR Box that was pushing through the filters. Took a long time to clean the fans, can’t recommend pushing! Get the air cleaned before hitting the fans, always, even if it looks worse
In horizontal position it has a pretty sci-fi vibe. Reactor core / space ship vibez.
uses 20 watts when fans and LEDs are turned up. 48db at 1m on high. Just based on siting in front of it I think it’s prob 1/3-1/2 the CADR of a lasko crb on low. But it’s 14”x14”x1.9” and uses 1/3 the energy, expect lower performance. Still it’s pushing lots of clean air
It’s close to the window and the setting sun is lighting up the filter behind the fans…sublime IAQ 😂
I should say this build is an advanced model. If you dig the idea but have little or no electronics experience, start with this one: it’s based on a 3 fan Asiahorse matrix that has one wire for all the fans instead of 9. It’s much simpler and like 65-75% as cool
Or this for the easiest. Only one fan limits the complexity of the LED display a lot; it’s never as cool, so the 3 fan matrix is better if that’s the appeal
Back side is pretty nice too. Since it looks good both ways this could be a restaurant divider etc
Gotta tag @Asiahorse_PC for having engineers that design the best RGB Fans controllers on earth! Niche concept I know, but I’ve tried them all and asiahorse is playing 3D chess compared to the others. Thanks Asiahorse!
Here it is, BTS, the brain that makes the beautiful patterns. Controls each fan separately. Most controllers just do the same pattern on every fan, some can do 5 fans, but this one can individually address each fan in the AL Panel, up to 10. Comes with the FS-9002 fans only
Here’s how it looks from outside and behind, at night. Fun for neighbors too! 😂

A thread about one of the best CC lifestyle things I got: an outdoor heat lamp.
Having the ability to really blast heat outside has meant many friends/family visits at temps 2 cold for outdoors were totally enjoyable. But not just any work well…🧵
First of all, forget electricity. Plug-in 120v electric heaters top out at 5000 BTUs of heat. Patio heaters running on gas put out 10x or 50,000 btus. For heating the outdoors w friends you want as many btus as you can get. It’s gotta be gas.
The 3 main types I’ve tried: standard like in the first pic, quartz tube pyramid and fireplace style. All 50k btu. Standard works best by far to focus the heat onto the people. The others look cooler and ARE cooler. Cheap or expensive standard patio heater is the way to go
I’ve read a few new articles about humidifiers that sound good but end up with bad advice.
For clean air, the best solution is an EVAPORATIVE Humidifier with bacteriostatic solution added to the tank.
Any other kind is risky IME/HO and I’ll explain. 🧵
To start: all humidifiers are fairly high maintenance. They need to be filled and cleaned every few days. There is no way to avoid that. But it’s worth it for the best indoor air. If you have HEPA and carbon already in place it’s the finishing touch. Helps fight COVID too.
Ultrasonic and impeller humidifiers put *everything* that’s in the water into the air. Minerals, vocs and bacteria. Ideally, but unlikely, you use distilled water, which is expensive at this scale (gallon per day or more). And bacteria grow fast, then enter the air. NO!
It’s been a while! Here’s a new easy build that’s absolutely the best way to get VOCs filtered. Lowest cost, quiet, 140cfm. It’s an 8” grow filter n a Silverstone 180mm fan. Plus usb power and black tape.
$132
This is for @LazarusLong13 @Ikat0 @AltenbergLee
So first off, the grow carbon filters are about $4/lb of activated carbon, cheapest deal. They can be all black n fairly sleek. For tackling smells for years nothing beats em. Years. This brand is great; all work. 8” has about 22lbs carbon inside for $89
The fan I really like is Silverstone 180mm. But any 180-200mm PC fan will work. This one is the AP184 with 143cfm; avoid the similar price AP181 with only 100cfm. $32
I got a PlusLife tester and it’s been a total gamechanger. Doing 3-4 people in one batch means you can test a whole family of guests and know with 99% accuracy that they are C negative. For CC ppl it’s an amazing sense of relief vs RAT. Knowing ppl don’t have it is priceless rn
With the discount code it’s $210 for the machine; tests are $7/each for Covid, $14 for COVID/FLUA/B. They also have MPX tests, $9. It runs off a USB battery, super portable. I tested more than 20 ppl in batches at the memorial. Absolutely changed our relationship w indoor parties
Here are the discount codes. Order lots of extra swabs if you plan to batch test (30 extra per 10 pack), they use their own swabs and the Amazon swab option is not the same, but prob works (I had to use them because I didn’t order enough). Shipping takes 10-14 days
It’s all leftover pro grow gear n so this would be stupidly expensive for home use, but I had this stuff so here it is. It has a digital controlled electronically commutated motor, high cfm/pressure with lowest noise possible. Great under pressure, CADR should be high % of 710cfm
You can smoke indoors and not smell it at all shortly thereafter. Farts simply disappear 😂 It’s massive overkill but it’s probably as good as VOC filtering can get for space/noise. Fresh AF
