Before everyone goes back to school/work tomorrow, we have some homework for you. Look at this image and tell us what you make of it, and what you'd think school pupils might make of it. 1/ #SaveOurSchools#Genderbread
Hands up if you get a very strong whiff of unscientific gender woo from it, with their coy suggestion that sex may not just be female or male or there is such a thing as "woman-ness" (I wonder if we'd pass?) and "man-ness". 2/
This nonsensical little trope is used to teach pupils about the difference between sex & whatever gender identity/expression is. So proud of it, some of our independent Scottish schools are boasting about its use 3/ @macmorrisons@Kilgraston@esmsedinburgh genderbread.org/resource/gende…
“We use the ‘genderbread’ diagram as a useful way of exploring these issues with pupils ...we work with the pupils to create a glossary of LGBTQI+ words so that everyone is clear about the meaning of terms, clearing up myths & misunderstandings”" 4/ thetimes.co.uk/article/4db59a…
We're not convinced about "clearing up understandings" based on this diagram alone. There's no sliding scale of sex, there's no 3rd sex, "intersex" is an outdated term for either male or females with a medical condition & your guess is as good as ours what a "Mtf female" is 5/
The organisation "teaching" this unscientific woo in Scottish schools is called @JustLikeUsUK . They create "teaching packs" for primary and secondary schools for inclusions in several subjects. Science? We're sorry, what? 6/ justlikeus.org
The Just Like Us website doesn't explain who funds them (never a good sign for a charity) but we've found out a little more from the Charity Commission. They've reached over 18k pupils in 2021 (presumably more in 2022). 7/ …of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-search…
Looks like the National Lottery is providing the biggest chunk of funding for them and a surprising number of investment companies (presumably all keen to tick their Corporate Social Responsibility boxes?). 8/
We wonder if the National Lottery has seen the report on @JustLikeUsUK by Transgender Trend? "Examination of this group’s resources reveals that they are not compatible with the DfE’s own latest RSE guidance on resources from external providers." transgendertrend.com/just-like-us-f… 9/
Incorrect advice on toilets for "transgender pupils" (presumably pupils the volunteers at Just Like Us or the teachers have diagnosed themselves as having gender dysphoria? Wonder if they bothered to tell the parents? 10/
Oh, of course not! And we already know this is an issue in our public schools as well, as reported by the teachers, parents and children of Queen Anne High school in Dunfermline, only this week) 11/ thetimes.co.uk/article/teache…
The more we read, the more we worry about what pupils in these schools understand about sex, &their ability to establish boundaries for their own privacy and safeguarding. Is it okay for a male teacher to tell female pupils they are really female for example?
12/
Sex exists on a spectrum? Really? What sort of spectrum? A rainbow-coloured woo spectrum, with multiple sexes that can be changed, apparently. 13/
Every week we are reading more stories, each worse than the last, of schools bringing charities in to teach about diversity & inclusivity (but only some aspects, right?), spreading unscientific, unverified, unsupported nonsense. We're bloody furious, are you? 14/
Ask to see a copy of the material being taught to your children. If you don't like it, tell your Cllrs, your MSPs, @sos_scotland@AcrossParents@ForWomenScot, your friends, the press. Sunlight is the best disinfectant #SaveOurSchools 15/

This article is about a Scottish high school in Dunfermline, teachers helping to socially transition pupils on the quiet, parents seeming to encourage, rather than manage, their children's confusion. This school won't be unique, unfortunately 1/ thetimes.co.uk/article/teache…
The tone of the article is calm, neutral, despite reporting an ideological contagion spreading through our schools, supported by guidance from the Scottish Government. Don't tell the parents, reinforce the child's anxiety and confusion. We should all be really VERY annoyed.
Once upon a time a group of well meaning people decided to create a new role - Period Dignity Officer. It was intended to, well we're not quite sure but the reports range from fighting period poverty (but only period poverty?) to organising 1/ 12ft.io/proxy?q=https%…
the distribution of period products across the region under the new Scottish legislation (Period Products Free Provision (Scotland) Act 2021, which does not mean free products for all women, despite the PR, sorry!) on to menopause guidance. Quite the role eh? 2/
The well meaning group decided to put someone in the role that had never experienced periods themselves, or the menopause, and perhaps not even poverty. They decided to give the role to a male. And the non-male people got mightily annoyed by this, unsurprisingly. 3/
Ladies, young & old, a little test for you:
Q: Where is the part of your brain that deals with toilet-cleaning?
Q:Or shoes?
Q: or headache generation?
A: all identified in the slide a @UofGlasgow neurology Prof shows medical undergrads 1/ heraldscotland.com/business_hq/20…
Strangely enough, the male brain was not used. Imagine being a female student in that class? We imagine many of us have been in the position, where our lecturers, bosses or colleagues have tried to belittle & humiliate us. Quite often we stay quiet because of the 2/
imbalance of power, or being outnumbered, or you're shocked into silence. We wonder what message your male peers receive as your "superior" broadcasts the message that it's okay to make sexist, lazy stereotypical slurs about women. 3/
Scottish Feminist Network sends support and solidarity to Standing For Women @StandingforXX , 22nd June 2022 1/ #WomenWontWheesht
Women gathered in Bristol at the weekend to discuss their sex-based rights protected in the Equality Act 2010, only to be met with an intimidating, baying mob of masked men who aggressively threatened, harassed & abused them. The baying mob went as far as to follow them to a pub,
where the women were trapped inside.
You would be forgiven for thinking those scenes were from some backward country, where women are viewed as lesser beings for men to use and abuse at will. Sadly, this is the UK in 2022. 3/
Yesterday, a group of women held a stall in Aberdeen to talk to the public about the legislation the Scottish Gov are proposing that will allow males to legally change their sex to female, and access female single-sex spaces. #WomenWontWheesht 1/
And as if to demonstrate the concerns of the women, a group of men decided to protest against the women's right of free speech, to try and intimidate & silence them (reader, they failed!).
Do these men really think that by turning up with a flag, and standing in front of these 2/
women that their concerns about the new law will disappear? That the women will stop explaining to the public what is happening? That the women will stop writing to their MSPs in advance of the draft Bill? That women will wheesht? 3/
The 25 Deeds of Christmas. Sharing actions from feminists over the past year, it’s been a busy one and we’re preparing to #SleighTheGRA! #WomenWontWheesht the fight goes on.
