“Meghan is a very interesting, very clear thinking woman. I’ve got a lot of time for her…I don’t know why [the media] just wanted to build her up into a negative figure which she’s not. She’s an intelligent, thoughtful woman…I absolutely think there’s a racial component to it.”
#JeremyCorbyn talks about his discussions with #HarryAndMeghan on mental health & how knowledgeable they were about the stressors & necessary support. Corbyn shares his own views on the lack of resources for military personnel. Link to full interview.
In 2020, Corbyn & his wife Laura Alvarez “privately offered sympathy for the duchess’s treatment at the hands of the tabloid press” and gave #HarryAndMeghan a book of verse by 17th century Mexican poet Juana Inés de la Cruz. The Sussexes responded with a personal note of thanks.
“Jeremy’s commented in the past in relation to #HarryAndMeghan, about press intrusion and its impact on people and their families and, to use Harry’s words, the racial undertones in relation to how the media has approached Meghan.” independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

Running this mini-thread back. I called it pretty well but BP didn’t issue a summary of process improvements which would be them doing the bare minimum. The absolute minimum was doing nothing at all just as they did after announcing they were considering hiring a diversity tsar.
For those questioning why Meghan doesn’t sue for defamation, there are no concrete allegations of actions she took that would substantiate bullying. The allegations are purposely nebulous & consist purely of anonymous staffers feelings w/out attributing them to Meghan’s actions.
As TOD is learning, u can’t sue ppl over their feelings. The most compelling example was a staffer who said that she was scared when Meghan didn’t immediately call her back. So she was scared by an action Meghan didn’t take. There’s not enough detail to refute much less sue over.
Everyone references Christopher Geidt being sacked from BP but few consider the staff turnover at KP that happened concurrently in 2017/2018. They brought in new Private Secretaries for William, Kate, & Harry within months of Harry & Meghan’s engagement announcement. 1/
That level of turnover in senior mgmt creates a leadership vacuum in any organization. This was also just as William & Kate moved to London to take on full-time royal duties. Add in Meghan’s introduction as a senior principal in the KP household & it was a recipe for disaster. 2/
Egos, insecurities, cultural differences, & inexperience all culminated in an epic power play w/in the royal household. Will & Kate solidified their place in the line of succession. Harry & Meghan left royal life & by 2020 so had the KP courtiers who put their exit in motion. 3/

“Archbishop #DesmondTutu, Nobel Peace Prize laureate & veteran of South Africa's struggle against white minority rule, has died aged 90, the presidency said on Sunday.”
#HarryAndMeghan introduced Archie to the Archbishop during their 2019 tour.
“Archbishop Tutu will be remembered for his optimism, his moral clarity,& his joyful spirit. He was an icon for racial justice & beloved across the world…He remained a friend & will be sorely missed by all.” #RIPDesmondTutu
The Christmas gifts keep on coming as the Fail publishes judge’s ruling in #MeghanMarkle’s legal win. 🎁
“The #DuchessOfSussex wins her legal case for copyright infringement against Associated Newspapers for articles published in the Mail on Sunday and posted on Mail Online”
I’d say this puts the kibosh on any Supreme Court appeal from ANL. But by running the statement at the bottom of the page instead of in a front page box ANL is testing the judge’s requirement for prominence. I’d love to see Justice Warby force them to print it again.
The judge required ANL to print a “short report” of his decision not an apology. Although Meghan won her privacy claim, admitting invasion of privacy wasn’t part of the required statement. The judge designated the exact copy & that it should be on the front pg in 17pt Gotham Bold.
