1. Sir,pls correct your timelines.Syed Ahmed Khan passed away in 1898, when Savarkar was barely 15 yrs old. From 1858 until his death, Khan had built on the Two Nation Theory which was based on the worldview of Shah Waliullah Dehlawi whose seminary Khan was a product of.
2. @Jairam_Ramesh This is an extract from Syed Ahmed Khan's book Causes of the Indian Revolt (1858) which I have extracted on Page 74 of my book #IndiaBharatAndPakistan. Khan referred to Hindus and Muslims as "two antagonistic races". This was 25 years before Savarkar was born.
3. @Jairam_Ramesh Page 75 of #IndiaBharatAndPakistan where I have cited Sharif Al Mujahid who specifically stated in his article "Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and Muslim Nationalism in India" that in *1867*,Khan told the commissioner of Benares that Hindus and Muslims were "two nations".
4. @Jairam_Ramesh Extract from Khan's speech vehemently opposing introduction of a representative parliamentary democracy in Bharat bcoz that wud result in Muslims living under a Hindu-majority Government. Savarkar was an infant at this point- Pg. 77 of #IndiaBharatAndPakistan
5. @Jairam_Ramesh Here are extracts from Khan's speech of December 18, *1887* on the eve of the Congress's annual session in Madras. Notice the simultaneous British loyalism, application of Two Nation Theory and Hindu hatred Khan oozes. Pages 78-85 of #IndiaBharatAndPakistan.
6. @Jairam_Ramesh Here are extracts from Khan's speech of March 16, *1888* delivered in Meerut. Here's how he threatened the British Government with invasion by the Pathans if the "Muslim nation's" (Muslim qaum) interest were not secured. Pgs. 85-93 of #IndiaBharatAndPakistan
7. @Jairam_Ramesh Here is what Syed Ahmed Khan said in 1892, six years before his death, when Savarkar was *nine* years old. Pgs. 93-94 of #IndiaBharatAndPakistan
8. @Jairam_Ramesh To sum it up,Khan & Savarkar were *not* contemporaries in any reasonable sense. The 2 nation theory had come into existence way before Khan thanks to Shah Waliullah Dehlawi.Khan was d product of Dehlawi's seminary Madrasa-i-Rahimiyya.These are unrebuttable facts.
9. @Jairam_Ramesh As for Partition of Bengal,Curzon wanted to impede Bengali Hindu-led Movement & found willing collaborators in Muslim leaders of Bengal such as Nawab Salimullah, & the Aligarh establishment. Have captured the events in Chapters 3 & 4 of #IndiaBharatAndPakistan.
10. Savarkar merely took the position that the Two Nation Theory was a reality given its consistency with Islamic beliefs and its long track record of acceptance by the Muslim community. He was unfortunately vindicated by the Partition and the electoral results preceding it.

For the Supreme Court to say this is beyond disappointing at so many levels. This has the effect of absolving all the murderous calls made and the murders committed. Sad day for Bharat that the watchdog of the Constitution has contributed to the chilling of free speech.
That Nupur Sharma's comments were preceded by atrocious comments on the Shivalingam at Gyanvapi, or that nothing justifies calls for murder and actual murders, needs to be underscored for the highest Court of the land. This is a textbook case of victim-shaming. Very unfortunate.
For someone whose life is already under threat and who is being harassed through multiple actions across the country, the observations of the Court and the refusal to transfer all cases to a single jurisdiction have the effect of exposing her to further harassment.

1. The position of transformative constitutionalists is as follows :
a. Of course Blasphemy laws must not exist since they impede free speech;
b. BUT the right to blaspheme must be seen in the context of inequality embedded in social relations.
2. Ergo, filthy jokes on Shivling are acceptable because it is a case of punching up against d majority by groups which r "bullied" whereas Nupur's statement was an act of baiting because she belongs to d majority community. Fantastic way of fuelling the mobs baying for her blood.
3. At a time when the country is witnessing massive mobilisation of Islamist thugs who are being aided by the global Ummah, trust the Left to come out with this position which endangers Nupur's life further *and* provides justification to the bloodlust of the mobs.

If punching up is legitimate and acceptable, and punching down isn't, well, Hindus are a global minority whereas the concept of a global ummah is a reality which outnumbers Hindus. So Hindus are right in punching up against the bully which the Ummah must take without resistance.
In any case, punching up and punching down cannot dictate the equal application of the law. If such considerations are allowed, we might as well accept that the same provision of the law when applied to Hindus and Muslims must and will yield unequal outcomes.
The scope of the discussion on punching up and punching down cannot be limited to Bharat alone with a so-called national minority frequently reaches out to its global brotherhood inviting interference in domestic affairs.

1. In the next few tweets, I will share a few screenshots from the judgement dated April 13, 2022 of a Special Sessions Court of Telangana in the case of State of Telangana v. Akbaruddin Owaisi. I will merely share screenshots without my comments.
2. Here's a summary of the allegations against Owaisi who has been referred to as Accused No. 1 in the judgement. Accused No. 2 was Azeem Bin-Yahya, the AIMIM President for Nirmal constituency.
3. Charges were framed against Owaisi under Sec. 120-B, 153-A, 295-A,
298 of the I.P.C.

At least now, the Government must arm the Hindus of Kashmir to protect themselves. They are vulnerable and they cannot trust anyone, especially the ones they are surrounded by. Tourism is no indicator of normalcy in Kashmir, it brings revenue, which is then funnelled to jihad.
Village Defence Committees have been formed in the past. But now individuals from one particular community are being killed one by one to send the msg that they are not welcome in Kashmir. No amount of investment in development in Kashmir will address the problem of mindset.
Unarmed civilians cannot be sent into Kashmir as cannon fodder and killing the terrorists responsible for such killings is no deterrent because the terrorists are willing to die.

@sumanthraman Thank you for not responding with specifics and thank you for responding on predictable lines. The weaponisation of Buddhism to pit it against Vedic Hinduism is textbook Marxist/postcolonial trope, which is what I was trying to explain to you.
@sumanthraman Each of these so-called Buddhist claims were manufactured to justify the razing of Hindu Temples by Muslim invaders and the Portuguese. When asked for historical evidence and archaeological proof, they would obfuscate just like you.
@sumanthraman I will give you a specific example. One party intervened in the Sabarimala case to claim that it was a Buddhist Temple taken over the Brahmins. A similar argument was made in the Ramjanmabhoomi case. Now can you see the pattern? If not, you are beyond redemption.
