Alright! I watched the hyped teaser of #Adipurush.
That's right folks, I am gonna rant again. See, if they come at my research material and an epic that I worship, you bet I am gonna chargeback!
1. Why in the world did they make Sri Rama fight against dementors from HP?
Seriously! Ramayana is full of epic battles. Starting from Taatakaa which was a moral dilemma, to battle with Khara, Dushana, Trisheersha which was a battle of timing to final confrontation with Ravana which is a battle of strategy. Yet! Prabhas fights with dementors. 🤦♂️
2. So much wrong with the costumes. Now, traditionally we don't talk about Rama's shaving accessories, but almost every school agrees that He had a disheveled look until Sita devi's Agni pareeksha. Also why is Rama wearing pajamas? Seriously! Look at 0:53 and tell me I am wrong.
3. I am sorry to say but this version of Rama looks like a poser. Rama's arrows always hit the target. There is no second say in that. This version: he's trying too hard to take aim.
For example, Rama takes Parashurama's bow and takes aim at him cuz the latter disrespected Nemi.
After Parashurama and Rama beat each other to a stalemate (using arguments), Rama swerves the arrow and asks Parashurama to tell him which target to hit. If Rama draws an arrow, it's gonna hit something for sure. That's the level of aim Rama takes.
This guy is... wow. Just a commercial for archery. A bad one at that. 4. So much CGI potential is wasted. Jatayu - Sampathi, these huge eagles who guarded Sita ji. Not in the teaser. Vaali and Sugriva - the real gray characters people crave - turned to preloaded in-game video.
5. Raavana - Why is he a white walker?
He's a Brahmin who was an ardent devotee of Shiva until of course he desired <redacted> and then, @DarkNghtUvacha can back me up here, became A CANNIBAL!
Why is he riding a goblin? He stole Pushpaka from Kubera.
Overacting Saifu! 🤦♂️
6. I can literally list out everything they got wrong with Hanuman and Lakshmana but I'll say this much.
Neela takes a flight after Hanuman teaches him how to. Hanuman's flight is unmatched, so much so that Neela faints at the thought of it. The version in teaser: underwhelming
They turned Lakshmana into Luigi. Take whatever you want from that statement and look back at the teaser. Lakshmana is so mission-oriented that he feared that his mistakes would hurt Rama. He was so guilty about leaving Sitaji that he took it personally. The sheer ferocity!
The teaser version of Lakshmana is having a casual stroll while CGI apes distract him.
I've said it once and I'll say it once again. Ramayana is unfilmable. The amount of nuance required for those legendary characters is beyond the reach of any filmmaker.
When you read, hear or even casually listen about Rama, you get goosebumps. Be it VR, Padma purana, Skanda purana or MBTN version. Every other character in Ramayana including Dasaratha himself looks upto Rama.
I got opposite of goosebumps with this version. 🥱🥱🥱
Overall, even for a hype-making teaser, it's underwhelming. I am #Disappointed with #Adipurush teaser. I'll read the books instead.
BTW... I hear #PS1 also requires similar homework

I want to tell you about the process. Here's a glimpse of the transliteration module. I pick the chapter and page to be transliteration and open up the OCR version of it. Sometimes skewed page transliterates well, sometimes deskewing works. It's awesome. It does about 40% work.
40% because often it gets confused in ottakshara and sanskruta pada in kannada. This tool is 10x powerful than vietOCR. vietOCR crapped the bed multiple times.
I adjust the spacing and other minor issues and then I fix the missing word issues. That completes the transliteration.
Best case scenario, I just need to proof read and worst case scenario, I have to type a paragraph myself. Normal scenario is that I type couple of sentences here and there which takes 6-10 minutes at its worst.
Then I save this transliterated document and open up translator.
