Ukraine's "KRAKEN" special unit released a 9-minutes-long video material from the operation to liberate the city of Balakliya in Kharkiv Oblast, launched on September 6.

It contains some interesting footage, and provides rare insight on how the battle really looked like.

As the first part showed final preparations and initial advances, below we can see the Ukrainians entering a former Russian warehouse and Ukrainian strikes on Russian positions with a wide spectrum of weapons: 82mm mortars, BM-21 Grad MRL, D-30 towed howitzers and a tank.
3/

Another part shows mainly Ukrainian mechanized infantry moving onwards and entering the city. Also some fragments of the work of drone operators.

- 🇺🇦 generals and 🇺🇸 officials believed that such an assault would result in immense casualties and would fail to retake large amounts of territory.

- During the course of the planning, 🇺🇦 commanders started opening up more to 🇺🇸 and 🇬🇧 intel officials and seeking advice.

- A war game held by 🇺🇸 and 🇺🇦 officials simulating the attack in the south also suggested that such an offensive would fail.

- Instead of one large offensive, 🇺🇦 military proposed two. One - Kherson Oblast; the other - Kharkiv Oblast.
