If Pierre Poilievre says he didn't know those labels were on his videos, for almost 5 years, (as he is now insisting) then he is admitting he isn't competent to run a social media account, or to hire people who aren't evil. 1/6 #NeverVoteConservative#mgtow
The alternative is he did know, either he put the tag in there himself or directed someone to do it, or approved it. And he was, therefore, A-OK with the ideology he was courting.
Neither is a good look for someone who thinks he should be Prime Minister of Canada. 2/6
The CPC apparently had a day of trying to get to the bottom of who put the tags on about 50 videos. And then they gave up. Because it was too hard. Or because they didn't like what they were finding and couldn't find anyone convenient to throw under the bus. 3/6
Either way you look at it, in Poilievre and his party Canadians have a choice of someone who is incompetent, or someone who is maliciously willing to reach out to, and to appease, organized groups of men whose ideology is based on hatred of women and violence towards women. 4/6
Neither represent what I am looking for in a Prime Minister or a government. I hope you feel the same. Violence against women is already a huge problem, here and around the world. Groups that advocate for violence against women should not be tolerated, 5/6
and they certainly shouldn't be encouraged by ANY of our elected officials. This behaviour (and I think he knew exactly what he was doing, just as he knew who Jeremy McKenzie is) crosses a line. No apology can erase this. #NeverVoteConservative 6/6

"Freedom of conscience" - the right for doctors and pharmacists and other care providers to block patients' access to health care on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status. Just how far does this extend now? 2/5
Are the conservative conscience rights limited to clergy, health car providers, and bakery owners? Or has it extended to include the freedom to refuse employment and housing to anyone who offends certain people's delicate "Christian" sensibilities? 3/5
The convoy folk seem to think their rights were badly infringed by the Emergencies Act, which, incidentally, was supported by a majority in the House of Commons. The protestors had been disrupting Ottawa for over 3 weeks. Borders had been blocked in Ontario, Coutts, and
protests were happening in most major Canadian cities. Lots of honking and horrible flags and signs supporting white supremacists, racism, and calling for the execution of the Prime Minister. The convoy brought a memorandum of understanding, appealing to
the Senate and the Governor General to overturn a legitimate democratic election, and to install a government of the convoy people's choosing. After all that, after bouncy castles and intimidation, the convoy folks were given DAYS to withdraw before police forces pushed them
Went to renew our vehicle registration today. The line at the registry office was out the door and down the sidewalk. When I got inside, it was still a long wait. There were 3 cashiers open. No one on the other side of the plexiglass was demonstrating any sense of urgency. 1/5
Alberta really has a daft system. You have to insure your vehicles at an insurance office and then go to a registry office, with proof of insurance, to renew your registration. In Manitoba, you went to one office, an Autopac/MPI office, and did everything in one stop. 2/5
And the insurance was about half of what we pay in Alberta. The insurance thing here is crazy. You have to assign a primary driver for each vehicle. If you have driving kids, you are financially incentivised to have them drive the oldest, crappiest cars... 3/5
I am watching the British series, "Silent Witness". Somehow I feel committed now. I am 13 seasons in and I have this determination to make it through all 26 seasons, even though some episodes are not as compelling as some of the earlier ones. And the theme music... 1/4
now drives me mad. But the thing that really is bugging me right now is how they go into a crime scene and find a hair. A hair. That solves everything. Just like every other forensic procedural show. And I look around my house, with my two dogs and my imperfect housekeeping, 2/4
and I think, good grief. If any of us is ever murdered here, there is no freaking way a forensic team is going to make hide nor hair of what happened. Seriously. They would come in here and throw their hands in the air and go, "no fvcking clue, mate" and it would go unsolved. 3/4
This is a serious question. I expect I will get the usual round of nasty replies (which will actually prove my point, btw), but what do the people who pile on with insults and threats get out of doing that? I mean, are they being paid to be unpleasant, demeaning, and
1/25
insulting on Twitter? Are they seeking to gain the respect of their fellow abusers? Do they think someone from the CPC will notice them and say, "Oh, what a good follower! We must make sure they get a pat on the head"? Or do they get internal gratification from mocking 2/25
strangers who happen to hold a different view from their own? And the people I am referring to seldom argue with valid points, evidence, facts that can be backed up (w/out pointing to Rebel or PragerU or the Postmillennial). It's not a discussion. It's just them showing up 3/25
We need to talk about silence. Not the kind of silence you might seek after a busy, noisy day. Not the kind of silence between the last note and the applause. Not the kind of silence that makes you go and put on the radio, or T.V. or music player. 1/ #cdnpoli
No, I think we need to talk about the silence the right wing, the anti-maskers, the anti-vaxxers, the ironically-named "Freedom" convoyers, are demanding from those who hold views that differ from theirs. 2/
In an Alberta election, an NDP sign can mark you for theft/destruction of your sign (that's not really anything new, sign mischief has happened for a long time), and also property damage - cars being keyed, eggs thrown, graffiti... you get the idea. 3/ globalnews.ca/news/5131179/a…
