My bet is that unmitigated schools are *the* main driver of Covid spread.
We've got two and a half years of patterns to look at now.
Cases rise at the start of every term.
Cases drop every time there's a break - half term or end of term.
Cases drop massively during the long summer break.
A new variant may play a part in the speed of the spread, but they all take advantage of the same venues.
There are other events that drive spread, but I think the biggest single consistent problem is unmitigated schools.
Kids are not developing strong immunity to covid.
There have been more kids hospitalisations and deaths this year (in nine months) than in '20 and '21.
Many kids in the UK are unvaxed and they can't have boosters.
Hybrid immunity for kids is a hopium pipe dream.
The situation is getting worse, not better.
The early lies about kids are still lies:
🚫Lie: kids don't catch Covid
🚫Lie: kids don't get sick from Covid
🚫Lie: kids don't spread Covid
🚫Lie: kids need to catch Covid
🚫Lie: kids need to be exposed to viruses
They were lies then, and they are still lies now.
We need to mitigate schools.
Simple practical measures.
🥇Kids stay home when sick
🥇Test kids regularly
🥇Clean the air: ventilation and filtration
🥇Masks when poor air quality
🥇Do stuff outdoors
🥇No huge groups indoors together
🥇extra mitigations in the case of serious outbreaks or community spread
🥇Educate parents
🥇Educate kids
🥇Fight disinformation
I've probably missed some really simple stuff.
Reducing spread in schools would make a massive dent in community transmission.
But who am I kidding while healthcare staff themselves have to stack covid positive patients on top of* Covid negative patients in hospitals?

*metaphorically. they're normally just in the next door bed in my experience.
And while our leaders insist on huffing down lungfuls of each others' undiluted exhaled air.
Which workplace would put 30+ people into a 70m2 room for six hours, five days a week, 39 weeks a year, with up to 115 of those rooms on a single site?
That's a set up designed to spread Covid.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How did I miss this 😬
Kids in some other countries are on their 4th vaccine dose.
Many countries do vaccinations of 6 month olds and up.

Here in the UK we have a spectacular failure in the vaccination rate of children:

It is no accident or coincidence that the general public in many countries came to believe the lie that it's fine to catch and spread Covid.
It's the result of a deliberate and calculated drip feed of misinformation and misdirection, and a steady and gradual concealment and minimisation of key data.
The campaign hinged on several key untruths or errors:
🚫 Untrue: everyone needs to catch Covid to end the pandemic

Does anyone remember that in the £38,000,000,000+ spent on track and trace, there were constant huge expenditures of millions upon millions of pounds on unnamed 'consultants'.
You know who are consultants?
McKinsey.
It's our money that needs to be tracked and traced.

To every hammer a problem looks like a nail.
Maybe that's why, to me, an air handling consultant, Covid looks like an airborne pathogen whose spread can be reduced by air filtration.
But I'm probably blinkered. 🙄

Look, stop me if I'm out of order here... but I have a theory about what causes Long Covid.
Not got time to write more now, will share later.
Nervous about saying really, it sounds so crazy...

I think slowly.
It's taken me a couple of years to get my head round the government and media gaslighting about Covid.
But I feel like it's starting to make sense now, and I feel like I'm now starting to become able to properly articulate the problem and the solutions.
