उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत्।
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः॥

मन की शक्ति द्वारा अपना आत्म उत्थान कर और स्वयं का पतन न होने दे। मन जीवात्मा का मित्र और शत्रु भी हो सकता है।
उद्धरेत्-उत्थान; आत्मना-मन द्वारा; आत्मानम्-जीव; न-नहीं; आत्मानम्-जीव; अवसादयेत्-पतन होना; आत्मा-मन; एव–निश्चय ही; हि-वास्तव में; आत्मनः-जीव का; बन्धुः-मित्र; आत्मा-मन; एव-निश्चय ही; रिपुः-शत्रु; आत्मनः-जीव का।

uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam avasādayet
ātmaiva hyātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur ātmanaḥ
Elevate yourself through the power of your mind, and not degrade yourself, for the mind can be the friend and also the enemy of the self.
