Let's talk about inflation and why Dems should be messaging it HARD 🧵
Wealthy corporations with monopoly power are jacking up their prices, and their profits are going through the roof. Big oil, food, shipping, health care, and real estate companies have been making record profits over the last two years. R's have no plan.
Drug prices & health insurance premiums are going to go down because of the Inflation Reduction Act. Dems want to do even more to lower costs, but the Republicans want to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act, while having no plan of their own.
Seniors will be getting the biggest increase in SocSec in 40 years; their Medicare premiums are going down for the first time in over a decade & their drug costs will go down because Dems forced Big Pharma to negotiate with Medicare. Rs want to end Soc Sec & raise drug costs.
Manufacturing jobs are coming back to the US; new plants are opening; new jobs in solar & wind energy & semiconductor chips have been created & our infrastructure is being rebuilt. This will end our supply chain problems & create millions more good jobs. Rs oppose these measures
Dems fight for the Child Tax Credit, which will give parents up to $600 a month to help w/groceries, gas & housing- paying for it by taxing wealthy corporations and millionaires who are paying little or nothing in taxes right now. Rs are against the Child Tax Credit.
Don't let the R's, who have NO SOLUTIONS only cruelty, shape the narrative on inflation. Beat them over the head with their policy failures. LFG! #VoteBlueToSaveAmerica#VoteBlueIn2022

Biden inherited a huge mess. Trump used cruelty and chaos to make a broken system worse
Donald Trump, along with his right-hand man Stephen Miller, waged a four year war on immigrants and refugees.
They ripped toddlers from the arms of their parents.
They dismantled asylum and gutted refugee resettlement.
They forced kids and families into dangerous areas of northern Mexico controlled by cartels and riddled with crime.
They deported Central Americans back to home countries without a fair chance to apply for asylum; in fact, some were sent to their death.
They attacked the very idea that America should be a beacon of hope for refugees.
They took a wrecking ball to the Statue of Liberty.
Last night a dear friend called me. She was on her way home from working in the Covid ward.
A patient who had been doing well crashed and had been intubated on her day off. Today she died as her husband of 68 years (who recovered) sat by her side.
In this small town hospital she says that every day someone dies of Covid. She’s struggling to understand what they are doing wrong and how so many can die but she is told it’s not just them, it’s like this everywhere.
She has a family and she’s scared. She’s in awe she’s made it this long without contracting Covid but afraid she will before she’s protected by the vaccine. That she’ll bring it home to her family.
Since Trump's family separation policies began, I've been to ICE detention centers, CBP processing centers & the encampment at Matamoros. Prior to my first visit I had never witnessed a humanitarian crisis. I had never been to a war zone, or witnessed genocide.
I can not say the same today. I have seen the intentional infliction of trauma on innocent children on American soil by a government acting in all of our names. And that government has lied to you. These aren't drug dealers or rapists coming for you.
These are families fleeing unspeakable violence. Children traveling alone thousands of miles with no money, no resources, who are beaten, raped, kidnapped and forced into manual labor along the way.
Everyone asks how I cope with the human suffering and abuse I witnessed at the CBP facilities. I struggle to find the words to convey what I have seen. It was a defining event in my life. There was my life before, and my life now. I will never be the same.
The only way I know how to move forward is to take action. Because if I don't I will break under the weight of grief and rage. So, to anyone listening please light a candle on July 12 in honor of those whose human rights we have violated. They are people. People just like us.
Move forward. Take action. Join the warriors in the arena. It's scary but if I can do it, so can you. To my sisters @KristinMinkDC@ECMcLaughlin@merylnyc and all the others in the arena (you know who you are) I love you and I will stand with you until the end. That is how I cope
