On this day in 1929 (most) women were recognized in law to be persons in the British Empire. This paved the way for things we take for granted today: voting, owning property, self-determination, employment. Things that weren't afforded because of our sex. #PersonsDay #Suffragette

On #PersonsDay we must think of the women in other countries who have lost rights, like Afghanistan and Iran. And we must continue to be forceful as our very basic rights in our own country are eroding. We must have strength to protect our unborn girls #DaughtersOfTheSuffragettes
Today, like in 1929, women were denied those rights because of their biology. Today we know that women have distinct needs to be met, but when it comes down to it women are human. Let us have the strength of the #Suffragettes & women in Iran to keep fighting #PersonsDay
