With Early Voting in Texas starting today, let's breakdown everything you need to know to be a voter in the midterm elections. 🌈
First, let’s get the basics out of the way:
Early Voting: Oct. 24-Nov. 4
Last day to apply for mail-in ballot: Oct. 28
Election Day: Nov. 8
Midterm elections determine the many state leaders who hold the power to change just about anything that happens right outside our doorstep. Check out our newly debuted voter guide in partnership with @DeedsActionFund 💟 for more information! movetxvoterguide.com
We know young people aren’t as interested in parties as they are about policy. That's why we vote for values. Young people can determine the outcome of elections, change cities & counties, build new leadership ready to take the fight higher, and transform circumstances in Texas.
You could be a climate voter because city council has the power to close coal plants. You can be a criminal justice voter and vote to decriminalize marijuana in your community. You can be an voting rights voter and support county leadership who advocate for more polling locations
You don’t need much to vote, but it’s important that you bring your ID. Let’s say it again, BRING YOUR ID. Driver’s license or state ID, regardless, BRING IT. If you don’t have either, look to our election center for other forms of ID: movetexas.org/vote
Sure you only need your ID to vote, but there’s other ways to be safe. If you go to the polls, wear a mask, bring hand sanitizer, and maybe your own pens. And keep your distance!
If you see your county on this list, yeehaw! It means you can vote at *any* polling place in your county on Election Day, not just at your assigned precinct location. sos.state.tx.us/elections/laws…
No ride, no problem. Our friends at @Rideshare2Vote can help ya out with a *free* round trip to the polls. Just make sure you request your ride 2 hours in advance!
You can either
1.) Download RideShare2Vote app
2.) Call (888) 977-2250

On the ballot, are several heavy-hitters such as Governor, Lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller, U.S. representatives, state reps and many communities will be voting on local offices. Want to see what's on your ballot?

You thought you were done screaming WTF @ #txlege? Not on their watch! @GregAbbott_TX has called a special session tomorrow with the intention of passing bills that threaten our rights and undermine our freedom to vote. Here's what you need to know → movetexas.org/2021/07/06/wtf…
@GregAbbott_TX A special session is intended to pass specific legislation that didn’t get through the #txlege in the regular session that the Governor deems necessary. It acts similar to a regular session, but on a much faster timeline of 30 days. But really, what’s so special about it?
@GregAbbott_TX For starters, the Governor can call as many of these as he wants, on whatever he wants, with no time restraints and no warning. The Governor’s power here is pretty limitless as he can keep calling special sessions until he gets his desired outcome. Yikes.
Good morning, freedom fighters! After a long long night in the Texas Senate - we're back at the capitol bright and early this morning to testify against Texas' voter suppression scheme. #txlege
This morning is the rescheduled hearing for House Bill 6 after last week's hearing prematurely ended after committee chair Briscoe Cain broke house rules. Seems odd he break small rules and get a rescheduled hearing, but HB 6 will criminalize small mistakes. 🤔 🍵
Alrighty twitter fam, anti-voter Senate Bill 7 is up for debate on the floor of the Texas Senate. These folks don't have a strong history with the truth, so we're here to live fact check the debate.
PRIMER: Here’s what to expect in Texas as the #txlege is poised to advance the worst attack on voting rights since Jim Crow.
Senate Bill 7 will be voted on by the full Senate TODAY and House Bill 6 is up for committee hearing on Thursday.
Texas is already the most restrictive state for voting rights in the country and ranked 44th in voter turnout in the 2020 election. The bills being jammed through the legislature target young, disabled, Black and brown Texans to silence their voices in our democracy. #txlege
In the process, lawmakers have abruptly ended public hearings, silenced the voices of hundreds of Texans who drove across the state to demonstrate their opposition to the bills, and passed legislation through committees late a night when nobody would notice. #txlege
Good morning fans of fun, this morning is the first House Elections Committee of the new #txlege session and boy are we already tired.
The folks testifying today don't have a great track record with the truth about free and fair elections - so we're here to correct the record.
Here's what you need to know: Last Month, State Rep. Briscoe Cain was named chair of the House Elections Committee months after traveling to Pennsylvania to help the Trump campaign undermine the results of a free, fair, and secure election. #txlege texastribune.org/2021/02/04/bri…
