An absolutely shocking indictment of members leaving @UKLabour in droves.
This week #Streatham CLP will meet at a venue with a maximum 100 capacity.
1/
To put this into context, 3 years ago we were regularly filling the same venue for local branch meetings!
At the same time we were packing out large venues in #Streatham such as school and college halls with 500 to 1,000 capacity for our CLP Meetings.
2/
I clearly remember going to this same venue for my first #Streatham CLP meeting in 2013 when Chuka Umunna was our MP
There was approx 30 people there and I couldn't understand where all the young people were & only "delegates" got to vote on motions etc, others were shut out
3/
Then in 2015 everything changed. There was a massive influx of young people filled with hope & energy. Many of them had joined a political party for the first time
We voted to move to All Member (OMOV) Meetings and there were regularly 500+ people there. It was exciting!
4/
Fast forward to 2022 and the local party has moved back to a GC Delegate system, many of the young members have left or have been suspended and we're back in that same tiny venue we were in back in 2013.
5/
Members should never be seen as expendable. These are door knocking, envelope stuffing, phone banking, sub paying, election winners
We now know almost 200,000 members have left Labour Nationally
We simply cannot keep silent about this and the reasons why many of them have left
