Hey MO GOP-if you TRULY appreciated law enforcement’s response to yesterday’s school shooting, you’d stop sending them into situations where they’re outgunned by a 19 y/o who has access to these guns because of your legislation. You don’t back the blue. Cut the shit. @MomsDemand Image
“Missouri not only has none of the foundational gun violence prevention laws, but indeed the state repealed an 80-year-old permit to purchase—leading to an increase in gun homicide of up to 27%.” #MoLeg #MoSen @MomsDemand

My friend’s partner, my uncle, 2 of my cousins, my neighbor, my former gymnast, & my friend’s son are all in law enforcement. If you’re going to force them into buildings where they’re outgunned while you cower under your desk, you need to take down that stupid blue line flag.
👆🏻Looking at you @MissouriGOP @NickBSchroer @Eric_Schmitt @GovParsonMO @EricBurlison @BenBakerMO @RepAnnWagner and every other cowardly fraud who puts their incorrect translation of an amendment written by slaveholders over the lives of Missouri children. We see you. @MomsDemand

Following Monday's tragic shooting, @RepCori hosts a Town Hall on Gun Violence & School Safety. Community leaders & elected officials from across the StL area have come together, along with @RepBowman, Vice-Chair of the U.S. House Comm on Education & Labor fb.watch/gqPbhl9GSW/
@RepCori @RepBowman "Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children in the U.S. In Missouri, we have the 4th highest rate of gun deaths in the entire nation. We need gun reform legislation that is rooted in public health because this is a public health crisis." @RepCori
In the back of the room, mental health professionals are available to anyone who needs them this evening. This is what a true public servant looks like. Missouri CD1, I sure hope you realize how fortunate you are. 🧡

Missouri’s weak, almost nonexistent, gun laws made it possible for this 19-y/o gunman to purchase an AR-15 from an unlicensed dealer, where background checks aren’t required. Local law enforcement will be sued for $50k if they assist federal agents in enforcing these BGD ✅s.
The gunman stockpiled 600+ rounds of ammunition, had 7 magazines on a chest strap, 8 magazines in a bag, and strategically placed ammunition all around the school building. #MoLeg @MomsDemand ImageImageImage
This was preventable. But Missouri is ruled by a cowardly supermajority Republican party who sits back, cowered behind their desks, passing laws that flood our streets with guns and disenfranchise urban communities at every step. #MoLeg #MoSen @MomsDemand

Today would’ve been my parent’s 50th anniversary. My dad died a little over 1 1/2 years ago. I spent the day with my mom and she reminded me of one of my favorite stories from their wedding day. It brought a smile to my face on a hard day. Hoping it does the same for you.
My parents were married in a small town in Wisconsin, where everyone knows your name (and your business 😉). Before the ceremony, my dad saw a man walk into the church and sit down who he had never seen. Didn’t think much of it, just assumed it was one of my mom’s crazy cousins.
My mom noticed him as she walked down the aisle, she assumed he was with my dad. Midway through the service, everyone noticed him scuffling around, as he moved up and cozied up in the front row. He told the mother of the bride that he couldn’t see from the back. She made room.

Out talking to voters again! One thing is clear, MO wants their freedom back. Let teachers teach, let librarians stock shelves, keep legislators out of exam rooms, don’t arm teachers, let kids be themselves… they want their freedom back. @MomsDemand @Lovett4MO @KrisProfessor
When lawmakers overrule your OBGYN in reproductive health, mental health professionals in pediatric psych, certified librarians in libraries, teachers in classrooms, police officers in enforcing gun laws, what we see is government overreach and a failed state. We deserve better.
Right now, Missouri has folks with a real estate license writing history curriculum, men with Theology degrees dictating reproductive care, fireworks stand owners dictating pediatric healthcare, state reps in drunken bar fights mandating guns in all places. This changes on 11/8. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Hey friends in Wentzville School District, time to gather your people, contact your BOE, and show up Thursday night. Your school board will be voting on allowing corporal punishment in your schools. They don’t trust teachers to read books, but they can sure as shit hit your kids.
For those who aren’t aware, corporal punishment (hitting kids) is legal in Missouri schools. Rep @MaggieforMO (D) introduced a bill last session to ban it, but the MO GOP voted it down. So school boards get to decide. Rep Bayse wanted “local control.” But only for SOME decisions.
Representative @PeterforMO summarized the blinding hypocrisy on the House floor:

It’s taken me a few days to collect my thoughts (in a way that won’t get me kicked off this app) regarding the travesty that took place during @rockwoodschools 10/6 School Board meeting. As most of you know, we’ve had a group of parents fighting every DEI effort for 2+ years now. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
At last week’s BOE meeting, Board member Izzy Imig, who’s candidacy was supported by Rockwood’s parent hate group, recommended eliminating 3 programs that offer support to marginalized students because “they don’t serve ALL students.”

All 3 programs were cut by a 4-3 vote. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
In cutting these programs, the students who are targeted are predominantly Black, those in need, some low-income, and many part of the VICC program (metro area desegregation program). These are the only programs that were targeted. There was no replacement program offered.
