🧵US: Detransitioners Walt Heyer, Billy Burleigh & @ChoooCole support Arkansas’ Save Adolescents From Experimentation Act (SAFE) , arguing that it is necessary to protect children from the horrors they themselves experienced. dailysignal.com/2022/10/25/det…
Heyer: "Kids need the assistance of trauma therapists to uncover and resolve adverse childhood experiences. Instead of encouraging kids on a path to unnecessary and destructive surgery, let’s affirm and love our young people just the way they are." #detransition
Heyer: “Kids under 18 need adults to step up and shield them from influences driving the social contagion, such as school, peers, and social media.”#detransition
Burleigh: "After doing this for 7 years, I had more problems than when I started.” He later transitioned back to male, undergoing a phalloplasty which he described as “horrific.” #detransition
Burleigh: “In hindsight, I knew I was seeking acceptance, significance, and security,” he added. “I thought that I could find those by being a girl instead of just learning to be a boy and to be myself.” #detransition
Cole: “As for these being necessary procedures? They need to do better for these kids than treating a mental health condition with cosmetic surgeries that remove function from the body." #detransition

THREAD: 1/This and other clinical studies have shown that gender-dysphoric children whose puberty is blocked almost always continue onto cross-sex hormones. This pathway appears to concretize gender dysphoria- and it also strips patients of their fertility & sexual function.
2/@NPR's @laurelwamsley: "The finding is significant because of ongoing political debates over whether young people should receive gender-affirming treatment, with some opponents arguing that many trans children & teens will realize later in life that they aren't really trans."
3/All the study ACTUALLY showed was that the Amsterdam Cohort of Gender dysphoria (ACOG) patients- all of whom took puberty blockers then cross-sex hormones as teens- HAD A PRESCRIPTION for cross-sex hormones at follow up (Median age: 20-M, 19-F.!)

"NHS England has announced plans for tightening controls on the treatment of under 18s questioning their gender, including a ban on prescribing puberty blockers outside of strict clinical trials."
[We will have data in the future]

"The services, which will replace the controversial Tavistock clinic, will be led by medical doctors rather than therapists and will consider the impact of other conditions such as autism and mental health issues."

Big tech is waking up!

'..he wanted Mailchimp to be an inclusive company but the pronoun practice was never required and “in the long run this approach does more harm than good”. Forcing people to behave a certain way was “the opposite of inclusion”..

'Forcing (either with orders, or through guilt) approximately 1,390 other peeps to adopt a new communication paradigm that humanity has never had to use in our 300k year existence, and in our 150k years of spoken language, in order to make things slightly more comfortable.. 2/4
...for an extremely small group of peeps is completely illogical'

And Chestnut continues
'Coercing peeps into proclaiming their pronouns is not about creating an inclusive, creative, productive work environment. It’s becoming a political statement.'

Ireland:
Brilliant reporting by @MarkLTighe on the fight between the adult National Gender Service who believe WPATH are 'unsafe' and the children's national gender service who cling to the discredited gender affirmative model of care.

..'Given their behaviour, the four doctors said they could not trust the two HSE managers to work with them “in good faith” so they “will not work with them in the future”. They would only work directly within contractually defined reporting lines..' 3/12
