These are some of the x-rays. They tell two stories: the extent of the injuries sustained and the numbers that came into ONE hospital.
But they tell another... Andrei said he felt the Russians only brought out the ones who could survive... #RussiaUkraineWar

A huge influx of casualties arrived in #Mozyr from the ferocious #Hostomel battles.
The injuries were so bad, and restrictions so tight, drs were not allowed to record names. They triaged them with numbers on foreheads.

Andrei took great personal risk to bring the x-rays.
He swam across a river into Lithuania. But he says one of his overriding memories of the soldiers he spoke too was "I felt the living envied those who had died"

Andrei and his family are now safe in a European country. He knows what he did lead to espionage charges. But he took the x-rays as proof, evidence of what he saw. He spent weeks not being able to speak freely to his wife - now he feels he can.

This project wouldn't be possible without my incredible colleagues and Andrei's bravery. But in particular our Belarusian fixer, they don't want to be named for their safety, but they know who they are.
