Jokes apart, these jokers actually think it is their God-Given right to be custodians of 'free speech'.
Now what constitutes 'free speech' for them is a matter of THEIR personal choice.
In simple words, either you agree with them, or you are .. err .. not welcome on the Platform!

De-platforming, shadow-bans, temporary restrictions of accounts for not conforming to THEIR supposed policy on 'free' speech .. you name it, and they have a reason to ensure you abide by 'their' rules!

Of course, the key here is 'THEIR' rules
And nope, I don't think they're enforced uniformly.

But coming back to the issue of the 'Commie as Fu%k' folks running Twitter and playing Gods of 'free' speech while maintaining they are only 'intermediaries', it is no wonder that they were literally on the top of the world for as long as it lasted!
No wonder tears were shed!

So, will things change with @elonmusk taking over?
I would like to say yes.
But what changes we see, needs to be seen.
In my personal opinion, the biggest reason for the downfall of twitter has been their propensity to curb free speech based on political biases.

They may shout from top of every tree and every mountaintop that they were the sole custodians of free speech, but fact remains that they were an integral part of a leftist ecosystem and were, in the words of their own colleague, 'Commie as Fcuk'!

Moving on, there was also that little incident of Twitter being shown a huge middle finger by Nigeria, only to go crawling back a few months later.
Apparently, being 'Champions of Free Speech' was secondary to retaining users in Nigeria!

To end this thread, all I'll say is that true free speech is indeed the need of the hour, subject to national laws of course, instead of some idiotic 'rules' of the social media platforms that are made by loonies who think they carry the modern version of 'White Man's Burden'.

Not only is it good for public discourse, especially in these turbulent times that face us, but also make good business sense, I'd say.
Why would you want to drive away a large chunk of potential users who feel.. for the want of a better word .. 'disenfranchised' on the platform?

The only way to survive is to ensure that your platform is truly indispensable for ALL types of users, and remains a true intermediary.
Else, as they say, Graveyards of the world are filled with people who thought they were indispensable!

So I cap this thread by saying that we wait to see how Twitter shapes out under @elonmusk, and whether or not it enables truly free speech!
Things should be apparent in a few weeks/months.
In the end, I'll once again leave this thread here
