I've been sitting on a document, unsure what to do with it.
I've decided to share it today.
I'm not prone to exaggeration, but if this document is true, it throws doubt on the legitimacy of Victorian Liberal candidates, and the party by extension. #springst
1/10
I'm sharing the document because I think everyone should know about it, but more importantly to encourage journalists to ask serious questions.
I'm told that Senior Liberals are familiar with this document, and if true, that's deeply troubling.
2/10
I understand people will want to know the source of this document. I've received it on the condition of not identifying that person.
I will say however, that the individual who provided it is a 'blue tick' twitter user, so is therefore not anonymous.
3/10
The reason I think this document is so significant is because it outlines a model and system for religion to infiltrate and control the Victorian Liberal party.
The first sentence on the document is;
'Political participation for godly good'.
4/10
It diagrams a model and lists steps for participation in the Victorian Liberal party at branches, voting for state council and assembly delegates, with the ultimate goal of pre-selecting religious candidates.
Top right of the document states 'infiltrate, impact, impel'.
5/10
When we see the pre-selection of strident anti-abortion candidates, and promises to change laws to allow discrimination against gay people, the election of deeply religious candidates over moderates, this document explains the why and how of this pattern.
6/10
I understand the version of the document I have, albeit very blurry, was authored in 2019.
I won't name the author publicly, other than to say that he was a deeply homophobic former Liberal candidate who expressed the view that gay people are dangerous.
7/10
When I read the words 'infiltrate, impact, impel' I was reminded of the pre-selection of Renee Heath for the Eastern Victorian Region.
Renee Heath's father Brian Heath, is pastor at City Builders, a conservative church accused of historic links to gay conversion practices.
8/10
Renee Heath beat sitting member Catherine Burnett-Wake. In an interview with the ABC, Catherine said, 'Infiltrate, impact, impel is their strategy.'
Could that imply that Catherine is familiar with this document and strategy?
This blurry document outlines a model, and a series of steps to enable 'political participation for godly good', with a strategy to 'infiltrate, impact, impel'.
If this model is used to facilitate religious infiltration of the Victorian Liberals, questions must be asked.
Queenslander Peter Dutton, in one of the most embarrassing moments in Australian Parliamentary history yelled out 'where's Yeppen?' in an attempt to mock and humiliate Anthony Albanese, thinking that Albanese couldn't pronounce 'Yeppoon'.
1/4
Dutton's gaffe was so embarrassing, that left to stand as it was, would've plagued him for the remainder of the term.
Liberal spin-masters acted quickly, and set about reframing, so, Albanese the bully was invented, and a press conference called.
2/4
In trying to cheaply humiliate Albanese, Peter Dutton humiliated himself.
In a case of, 'who are you going to believe, the Liberal spin-masters, or your very own ears and eyes?', I don't think anyone believes Michelle Landry's Dutton cover routine.
Matthew Guy has just had a secret meeting with The Australian Christian Lobby, which is the same thing he did prior to the 2018 election.
In 2018, Matthew Guy promised to bring special religious education back to primary schools.
1/8
This was despite huge efforts by parents to get proselytising evangelical organisations like Access Ministries out of state schools.
In 2014, Access Ministries, the main provider of religious education in Vic, gave biblezines to students telling them homosexuality is a sin.
2/8
When Michael O'Brien became leader he also made promises to the Australian Christian Lobby.
He promised to wind back elements of the ban on gay conversion therapy in order to secure the votes of religious conservatives who want gay people to 'pray the gay away'.
Had Tim Smith not careered through a Hawthorn fence at nearly 3 times the legal limit, he'd be contesting Kew in Nov.
This article is enraging. Not because @annikasmethurst's article is a bad one. It's very good.
This article reminds me why the Liberals deserve to lose.
1/10
Tim Smith's rise was not because of what he brought, but because of his connections.
It's a familiar story for the party that claims to select on merit.
Kew is the type of seat the Liberals have like to gift to someone like Tim.
2/10
As Covid hit, my view of Tim changed from a run-of-the-mill philosophical dislike to wanting to dedicate every waking minute to his removal in Nov 2022.
Just as Frydenberg kicked Victorians as hard as he could, Tim's was a more bratish attack, but no less offensive.
