UK gov't updated its travel advisory to Turkey about an hour after the explosion. Tourism is a big part of the economy and can have an impact on politics. The street where the explosion happened is one of the biggest tourism spots in Istanbul.
The last ISIS attack in Istanbul was 6 years ago at a nightclub.

This explosion comes 8 months or less before elections are due. If it hurst tourism, it will hurt Turkey's economy which is already in a crisis and put more pressure on those in power.
