Explosion on Istanbul’s main shopping street. Several reportedly wounded. Cause unknown. There was a terrorist attack on this street in 2016 by an ISIS member. 🧵some of what to watch for UK gov't updated its travel advisory to Turkey about an hour after the explosion. Tourism is a big part of the economy and can have an impact on politics. The street where the explosion happened is one of the biggest tourism spots in Istanbul.
