thinking of a bkdk au where siren izuku grew up never being able to charm anyone with his voice, making him the outcast out of all the sirens.

he's always been fascinated by humans. one day by the shore, he sees a fisherman that goes by the name of katsuki.

izuku watched over him, always swam close to where katsuki's boat is.

until katsuki calls over his attention one day, revealing that he's always known that a "shitty mer" has been following him for a few weeks now.

izuku reveals himself, shy under the fisherman's gaze. but his cheeks soon grew hot when the fisherman grins, stating that he's always been right all along. mermaids DO exist.

izuku never gets the chance to correct katsuki that day. that no, he isn't a mermaid. he is a siren.

izuku getting hit with a de-aging quirk and everyone doesnt understand why katsuki looks broken even though kid izuku is singing praises about him left and right.

on how katsuki holds izuku with all the reverence that he can muster, his hold on the kid is soft and gentle like izuku will break if katsuki even grips on him a little bit harder.

there's tiniest bit of desperation that breaks out in katsuki's eyes, like he doesnt want to let go of izuku but he thinks he's undeserving of izuku's attention at all.

it was their graduation day when it first started.

katsuki reaches out for izuku’s hands. the round of applause seems to be muted as their fingers intertwined. they hold each other tightly like a reflex, like they’ve done this before, like they do this everyday.

the thing is, this is only the third time it happened. the first one was a distant memory that only one of them remembers and the second one was underneath a bloody rain of fallen heroes and defeated villains.

both happened in the midst of fighting, like the heroes that they are.

but this time, it’s different.

izuku feels his hand getting lifted so he looks up to katsuki in confusion. katsuki meets his eyes and presses his lips on izuku’s hands.
