@TheRock The hierarchy of review will change, with my official review of #BlackAdam for your reading pleasure!!! Check out the thread and good reading!
@TheRock The so-called DCEU has been a mess for a long time. After sabotaging Zack Snyder's (great and superior) plans for this shared universe, the "Hope & Optimism" Team formed by Geoff Johns and John Berg swam and died on the beach, especially after the disgrace of 'JOSStice League.
But the plans had followed, “led” by the incompetent Walter Hamada. After Discovery bought WB, what fans wanted was someone to put this shared universe back into focus, but no one imagined that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be one of those people.
#BlackAdam was born out of The Rock's desire to treat the story of both Shazam and Adam respectfully, not trying to tell two origin stories in the same film. But this yielded extremely surprising results, not just for the film itself, but for its place within the DCEU.
First of all, unlike the trailers, the film does not hide being a spin-off of #Shazam, which made me extremely happy to see how these two films dialogue, not only in the narrative and worldbuilding, but in the construction of the script itself.
The first Champion was still a kid, you have the other Wizards (including Djmon Hounson), and even an indication of how the 7 Deadly Sins got out of their prison (which should be explored in future movies).
But I think what really explains the bridge between the films is Amon (Bodhi Sabongui), who as a character is a perfect mix between the DCEU versions of Billy and Freddie.
And its throught him the film presents an approach that frankly no one expected: how strong is the politics in the film, and how present is the anti-imperialist discourse.
The film is still an North-American blockbuster, but even so, in the small and large things within it, it presents the unfiltered and uncoiled speech: “America” allowed a criminal organization to dominate a Middle Eastern country, [+]
and only decided to act when someone inside the country proves to be a potential danger to “world” sovereignty.
Adrianna (Sarah Shahi) still works as her inspiration in the comics, as someone who fights for Kanhdaq's freedom, but with a Lara Croft twist.
This is justified when positivist politics ends up not being enough, and you end up having to take up arms (or ally with those who have weapons to protect yourself in your objective).
On the other side of the coin, we have Ishmael (Marwan Kenzari), who allies himself with foreign invaders in order to secretly dominate the country, and fulfill the dark legacy of his ancestors, [+]
who never cared about the country and its people, but with his own need for power, and the nefarious forces that serve him (the Sabbac is awesome on screen, by the way).
And that ends up taking us right into the very first cinematic appearance of the Justice Society of America, which the approach to fans might sound shocking at first.
They are clearly “the cops” there, serving the interests of the state, classifying #BlackAdam as “a weapon of mass destruction” and imposing their justice for imperialist ends, in an attempt to bring him into the (inevitable) ranks within the Suicide Squad.
The characters are extremely well portrayed there. Aldris Hodge's Hawkman have a straight-sense of justice and hot headed, Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate impeccably brings a fan-favorite character to life with the flair and heart we all expected from him.
And even with less screen time, Quintessa Sindell brings a charming and magnetic Cyclone and Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher works well within the approach of the rookie hero desperately wanting to please and prove his worth, [+]
even though it's the most different character in terms of adaptation, if you compare with the comics.
But we have to go back here to JSA's approach within the film. If we go back to the team's history, they were basically a war heroes, and that's a constant in all versions of the team (whether it's fighting Hitler, or Darkseid's forces).
They are “freedom fighters” by definition helping, and they represent this ideal of oppressed Americans to free themselves and “secure democracy”. Which in a context of World War II works, but in everything else [+]
(given the World History the position of the United States in it), general a very fair criticism and that the film was brilliant in taking advantage of this to highlight Kanhdaq's nationalism as heroic indeed.
Although the film cuts a lot of the JSA's background (has behind-the-scenes footage that shows a lot more of the crew and their history in St. Rock) or just makes vague quotes ("you're not afraid of death"), [+]
it ends up being done on purpose so that the eventual spin-offs of JSA and Hawkman delve further into the subject.
But I congratulate The Rock as #BlackAdam. You could see that this was a really special project for him, and even with changes to the origin that soften the more villainous side of the character, he still shows himself as a defender of his people, [+]
who is not afraid to go to extremes to make his will count. Redefining him as a protector rather than a ruler (as in the comics) was a welcome change, coming from a man who took power from revenge & tragedy, [+]
but in doing so, abandoned all the principles that made his son not only a true champion, but a man he never managed to be in the past.
I read a description that fits like a glove about #BlackAdam: it looks like a live-action DC animated movie. The action is the focus, the pace is fast, but it never lets the ball drop in terms of character development.
And the humor, which can be strange at first (as it happened to me), is a different approach from the competition, focusing that should comes from the characters' personality and their interactions, but never at the cost of themselves, or the pace of the script.
Although now the future with Gunn and Safran is fearful and full of mysteries and dpubts, #BlackAdam brought, at least for me, an approach that shows that yes, the DCEU, as a separate entity/timeline, can get back to working properly.
#BlackAdam realizes that, just like the films established as the root of the DCEU (and organized by Zack Snyder), demonstrates that these characters, as mythological representations that they are, can be used to say and reflected many things about our world in them.
But since no one can be as good as Zack Snyder at this, what director Jaume Collet-Serra does very well is to play this concept within his strengths, without necessarily seeking to copy it, but actually understanding and respecting the origins of this world.
And Jaume's focus is to bring an adventure that pleases everyone, but especially The Rock, which solidifies their partnership even further into the future, inside or outside of DC.
And when talking about the future, it leads us to two important characters here: Amada Waller becomes the anti-Nick Fury, with her Task Force X scaled in size that compares to its current power, much given exactly by the US government.
And the inevitable politics of dealing with it, and what might be the future of the DCEU, is reflected in the post-credits scene with Henry Cavill's Superman (historical for many reasons).
In addition to the (yes) great updated outfit and the joy of seeing him back from head to toe (pun intended) (despite his recent empty statements about the character's future cause worries), [+]
the scene, for me, demonstrates that even Waller using superheroes and villains in their personal political chess, the heroes will still look for a better way not only to save the world, but to coexist.
After all, Superman's arrival directly reflects the journey started in MOS and BvS, and at the same time shows (as he tried to do with Batman in BvS) that you can't let others control the narrative of how these things should be resolved, because catastrophic results can occur.
And for those who think that Superman is there as a “government dog”, despite nothing in the dialogue referring to this (because, as Waller herself says, it is an apparently constant exchange of favors, so that this system does not collapse on itself), [+]
at the end of the day it's the kind of discussion that only future films can really answer. But if you compare the approach of the two, only one acts as a "cop" in the story, and it's not Superman.
Whether the hierarchy has changed or not is up to you, but #BlackAdam' has brought back a DCEU that makes you want to see more, not only bringing focus back to its characters but also to the universe that until then, [+]
under the Hamada management, would only be a pathetic echo of the wishes of “true fans” and of a manager who had no affection or knowledge about this world.
And with Zaslav, DeLuca, Horn and now Safran & Gunn, there's hope that the mistakes of the past have been learned, and everyone will be pleased in the future. Because actually doing this (as well as financial proof of its worth) is easy.
The hard thing is to know in the end who they really want to serve. #BlackAdam is now on theaters and IMAX, go check out!

Guys and Gals, is simple:
Elon Musk, that baldfuck incel, bought twitter, in a attempt to heal his fragile ego by making this site his new 4chan-chat-room. But that's the issue: he spend all his money on the site, money he got from Tesla.
He charging for a verify isn't just a desperate attempt to make money atop a very clear bear-trap builded to lure he in, but also allow every lie-spreader, fascist and fake-news cunt make themselves reliable.
The verify seal is for we know the person behind important and relevant accounts are really from these people. This isn't just for famous people, but is extremely relevant for journalist and deputies, for example.

My intention tonight was to write about 'Black Adam' (a movie which i genuine enjoyed), but the world remind us if you are a DC Fan, you have no right to be happy. Because THIS happen, and its time to talk about and give my 2 cents. 🧵
Before dive in, FINALLY people are accepting that TSS floped (but a friendly tip, wasn't because of MAX dual release. From Mortal Kombat to Dune, all these movies had dual releases AND made bank).
"Walter Hamada" and "well liked" in the same sentence, what a joke.

Daily remind that:
- Emmerich and his crew hidden the numbers of everything from Discovery, including the real numbers of ZSJL. They are aware of the real numbers and not invest into #RestoreTheSnyderverse is ask for losing easy cash. [+]
Also, a very important remind that WBD have all the right to invest into the #DCEU again. Different of the Snyderverse, it proposes a long therm plan "without ending" and a build up for multiple franchises. [+]
We all know all that Snyder wants is rightfully close his story. the focus on what we should make noise is for ALL DC Fans have the same rights, sin't about "one win, one lose" or "if we have it, they can't". Focus on make sure ALL DC Fans are rewarded. #RestoreTheSnyderverse

Excited for #BlackAdam? Here is some recommended reading before the movie, follow the thread for more!
Lets begin with the beginning: The Marvel Family #1 (1945), by C.C. Becker and Otto Binder, was the newest magazine from the Captain Marvel Family, which introduced the anti-hero/nemesis, as his origin and the origins of the Marvel family, #BlackAdam
In 1977, years after DC got Fawcett, the official and direct sequel of that story would be publish on Shazam! #28, in the story 'The Return of Black Adam' by E. Nelson Bridwell (writer) & Kurt Schaffenberger (art). #BlackAdam

Why people on this fandom we are getting discussions and attitudes straight from 2018? Move on from that mentality people, is already damn time.
You have all the right to not want to watch a movie, that doesn't make it a boycott, and keeping that in your mind will only lead you to frustration. With that said: Ray Fisher not wanting to watch the movies under Hamada production is not a war call [+]
in special that Fisher defends you not attack other creatives. You not interested, don't watch it, is simple. But be careful to make something REALLY important to call out, what Fisher put his ass on the line to denounce, and make it about yourself and what you want. [+]

And because we are here already... lets check out these 4 tie-ins. #BlackAdam
Starting with: HAWKMAN! The bastardization of Kryptonite, tho, not nice. #BlackAdam
Interesting: apparently the JSA was a public team. And nice connections with Shazam, besides The Rock didn't want a crossover before he faces Superman. #BlackAdam
